Fozzy to Stanford

The program isn't going to tank without Sarrell. However the only way this team is ever going to be able to beat Ohio State or Bama or Auburn is in the trenches. This kid was dominating the best defensive lineman in the country at the Opening and he is was born and raised 30 minutes from UW. It would be a massive disappointment to not pull him in especially with every other legit in state kid committed to Washington.
I think last season is when Foster became attached to the idea of him going to Stanford. UW was 7-6 and Stanford was in the Rose Bowl so it made the choice easier. Washington's success this season has made him question that notion a bit but I'd still say Stanford is the favorite.
The visit in December is our final chance. Petersen is going to go all in. He is apparently committing at the All American Game and then planning on taking a visit to Stanford thereafter. Technically we have the last visit before he commits..
This is my big question: is the fact he is choosing to commit at the All American game a positive or negative for UW? Picking a Stanford hat in San Antonio as opposed to his high school gym certainly wouldn't create as much backfire. Or is he trying to make a statement for UW by choosing us on National TV? It's tough to call. -

Can't miss guy right? Offers from everywhere going to the perceived best school for offensive lineman development on the west coast. Future first round pick, right?
The problem for Stanford all they could do was "develop" him into a 6TH FUCKING ROUND PICK. He got worse at Stanford. He turned into a soft bitch. Yet no one mentions this. Cleary the lineman myth is alive and well in Palo Alto.
He didn't redshirt and made an All Conference team. He maybe wasn't a huge star, but he's hardly a bust either.
Peat, DeCastro, and Garnett - first round
7 OL drafted since 2012
I doubt any PAC 12 school can match that. How is it a myth because one five star guy was drafted in the 6th round?
That said, Fozzy is a pussy for going to Stanford when the hometown school will be competing for titles. -
I didn't know we had so many closet Stanford fans on this bored.

Umm...not a tough call. He's not making a choice in his home state (Washington). Instead he's doing it on a neutral site. Bad sign.pat_hm said:The program isn't going to tank without Sarrell. Then he's traveling to stanford right after that.
Looks pretty clear tome. He gone.

I don't like Stanford at all, but it is what it is. They have churned out more NFL OL than the other schools in the PAC 12 in recent years.pat_hm said:

Yep. We survived no Garnett and Banner.Meek said:Look, our smallest, youngest and weakest offensive lineman who is a true freshman and was maybe a 3* is the guy that the tv announcers are praising week in and week out for his amazing play.
i think we'll be okay without mr. sarrell.
But 2018 I hope the recruiting focuses on
both lines. That's how you stay elite.
The 2013-2015 teams would have been quite a bit better with those guys, especially Garnett.
Banner would have thrived under Petersen. No way would this staff let him weigh 380 like he did at USC. -

WDWHA was left at the bored for losers. Go to DM.c if you want to play that doogism bullshit. UW would have been better with a talented OL, such as banner or garnett.
Doogs seriously can't look outside the helmet, and only rip fellow fans when someone states the obvious and it conflicts with their doogism. It's okay to say that another team is good, or offers something better than UW. Such as an education at Stanford, or song girls at USC, or weed at Kal(okay, that was over the line).
Go Fozzy yourself
-
If Fozzy cares about his development as a football player, I'd present him with two important case studies.
Exhibit A: UW had 3 All-conference linemen this year, Stanford had 0.
Exhibit B: Video montage of Casey Tucker's play vs. UW. He was the Foster Sarrell of 3 years ago (top OT in the west) and Foster will likely be his heir at LT. The dude looked like freshman-year Shane Brostek against our defense. -

- if we have the last visit before the AA game then we have a chance.
- if there's any talk of Shaw testing NFL waters then we have a shot (haven't heard much lately)
- where's the girlfriend going?
- looks like mom probably wants Stanford, shes in charge of his recruiting, everything goes though her. it's like that gladiator line, win the crowd (mom) and win your freedom (commit).
- if he takes a good look at the empty seats and the lack of football support ... That's an important part of the football experience.
- on another note, with Kennedy polamalu gone from UCLA, here's hoping Jaelen Phillips takes a good look at other options. That guy is a beast (if johnson sticks with Miami)

The one we got is a local kid ...
The local national recruit (top 5 player by any service) is going to Stanford ...
The out of state kid from the Bay Area who is coached by a UW legend has chosen USC ...
IF this program is to compete at a national level, as others have stated, it will be because we are able to compete first and foremost on the OL. The reality is that the top 2 targets we had in this class we'll likely miss on both. Bainivalu is a really good OL prospect and nothing to sneeze at ... but if he is your 3rd OL in the class you are dancing in the streets. If he's your top OL recruit in this class then you probably aren't building the kind of combination of depth/talent needed to compete with the Alabama's, Ohio State's, Michigan, and even USC's to the point where you walk onto the field knowing you are going to beat them.
What other positional groupings on the field can you say that about going forward given what is currently on the roster and where this class has recruited?
Still want to stand by the fact that it's beyond retarted to complain about Strausser for any reason? -
The line of thought of, "can't blame a kid for going to Stanford," is absurd.
There are a myriad of ways to be successful in life. Success doesn't route strictly through.
Tiger Woods went to Stanford. He is without question a net negative to society. Total scum.
What did he gain from going Stanford? -
We already are competing on a national level, so yes it is beyond retarded to complain about the OL coach of a really good OL from a team very likely to make the playoff. I've only posted that line of thought maybe 20-25 times.Tequilla said:

If we were missing out or only hitting 33% in year 5 after being established as a national power again, that would be concerning.
But this is very new to the high school kids. There are middle aged guys on this bored who remember the don James years where we went out expecting to win in a dominating fashion. Where guys like pahukoa flashed the abdominals and stuff like that.
These kids have grown up with Alabama dominance, Oregon spread offense under what's his name and Stanford online running gane.
It takes alot to reprogram the minds of high school athletes.
So, if mama sarell, as a parent, has lived the adult life envisioning her kid going through the Stanford education and process, it's also harder to deprogram that as well.
Well see.
Additionally, look at the '18 kids who are going through the process right now. Woodbey is almost ready to commit. He's emotionally invested and if uw continues to do well we have a great shot. We just didn't have enough time with Sarell ... But it's not over yet. -
Don't get me wrong. I'd love Sarell, Jackson orTequilla said:

Tucker to switch and commit. But if I could only

And Harris is the next low rated jewel.
If Fozzy doesn't come, he doesn't come. Not much more anyone could have done than win the conference, show we can have a great OL, and have the head coach arrive in a helicopter to a high school game.

We already are competing on a national level, so yes it is beyond retarded to complain about the OL coach of a really good OL from a team very likely to make the playoff. I've only posted that line of thought maybe 20-25 times.Tequilla said:

i think we'll be okay without mr. sarrell.
But 2018 I hope the recruiting focuses on
both lines. That's how you stay elite.
The 2013-2015 teams would have been quite a bit better with those guys, especially Garnett.
Banner would have thrived under Petersen. No way would this staff let him weigh 380 like he did at USC.
have a pretty damn good line. If we don't
have Sarell next year we'll still have a better
line than this year. Pretty straightfoward
to me. Love to have him but people wetting

elsewhere, WTF? Strauser seems pretty damn good

We have proven that we can compete at the PAC level ... and BTW our OL got their shit pushed in in the game against elite DL talent that we lost this year.
We haven't proven shit on a national scale ...
You're FS enough to say that if we get our shit pushed in by Alabama or Ohio St or Clemson that those teams do it to everybody so it's not that big of a deal. -
Not this shit again.

@animate
I don't disagree with a lot of your premise and that it does take some time to turn minds around ...
I do disagree though with this idea that it takes 5 years to turn around minds and opinions ... particularly when you have a coach like Pete in charge where it's pretty clear at this point that he's on the short list of elite coaches nationally.
But I'd ask you the following?
Has it taken our DB recruiting 5 years to compete for elite kids?
Has it taken our RB recruiting 5 years to get elite kids ... particularly the local kids?
Has it taken our DL recruiting 5 years to get elite kids?
Has it taken our WR recruiting more than 1 year to get elite kids after getting rid of shit Pease?
The lagger in our recruiting is OL recruiting ... that's basically a fact at this point.

For those that like to say 1 in 3 recruiting is good ... I'd also like to point out that where that came from was that IF there were 3 elite prospects out of SoCal, the idea being that USC would get 1, UCLA would get 1, and UW would get 1 ... and that the reason the UW prospect would be better was because he'd get better coaching and have more of a chip on his shoulder. 1 in 3 never applied to local kids.
As it pertains to OL recruiting and the 1 of 3 ...
Bainivalu SHOULD have been a slam dunk given location and that he was more of a PAC recruit than he was a national recruit.
Fozzy being an in-state kid SHOULD be a minor favorite to UW but going nationally isn't a complete shock historically ... the big miss here (assuming that he goes to Stanford) wasn't that he left but that there was at best a very small window where having any expectation that we could be in the lead was reasonable.
AVT wasn't a SoCal kid ... he was a NoCal kid. Because of that, the USC/UCLA pull SHOULD have been less ... add to it the fact that he goes to a school that not only have we recruited reasonably well as of late (see Camilo Eifler), but the HC of that school is probably on the short list of all-time Husky Legends in Nip ... this is a kid that we should have been able to win over with high end recruiting ... instead he chose USC BEFORE they had even turn things around ... that's a FAIL by us in recruiting. -
Since when do you have standards? You've defended some horrific performances for years but since you are obsessed with me, you would pretend like the OL had a bad year if we get beat by an elite team?Tequilla said:
