good post except, revenue is at a record high. It just hasn't met projections. Thanks to the lies of a privileged white MAN who almost ruined women's tennisDHD said:If I've read this correctly, I'm taking away the following:
Spending years treating your customers like shit and ignoring their suggestions and expectations will result in them spending their money elsewhere resulting in falling revenue. Got. It.
(I guess this also serves as notice that LoRo isn't getting bought out any time soon ... regardless of results). -

This budget is young. Look what happens in 2018 when Jen gets her own revenue in here. -
Really? Because the game day experience is just as bad for the families who go once or twice a year. Trust me on this.haie said:The whole stadium/game experience is to just cater to families who go to the games once or twice a year.
All it takes is one pissing down raining, buttfucking from asu, sitting on shitty high school bleachers surrounded by old gray hair men and women reminiscing about 30 year old husky football to realize you've had enough live experience for a lifetime -

@allpurpleallgold: Dude. You're way overboard. Nothing Cohen said went anywhere near Trump territory, in statement or effect. Your accusation is far more racist, presumptuous, erroneous and hateful than anything Cohen said or meant. She was clearly talking about the increasing costs of living for the supported, scholarship athletes. She wasn't saying, or alluding to anyone being on "welfare" in the traditional sense.allpurpleallgold said:This language is very Trump like. It's beyond hateful and racist. Many athletes work hard, coming from humble beginnings, to get into the University of Washington. I imagine accepting their scholarship is one of the best days of their lives. Knowing that they now have the power to break the cycle, not just of their family but of their ancestors. Then they arrive at UW only to have this privileged white woman throw in their faces that they are once again on welfare and that they hurting the university.
I find it repulsive would say these things. I know it's popular nowadays to jump on the hate train. To be un pc. Donald Trump made it cool. But I thought at the University of Washington we didn't put minorities in the flat beds of our pick up trucks.
Jen Cohen should be fired immediately. -

Don't act surprised that a bunch of state-employed liberal retards can't follow a budget.PurpleThrobber said:Who the FUCK is in charge of budgeting?
You fuck up Expenses budgeted by $16 MILLION?!?
Revenue projections off? OK - fine, not enough people bought tickets and Larry Scott's network is shit. That crystal ball is murky.
But missing operating expenses projections by that amount is just shit. At least budget the prior year actual and go from there in trying to control costs.
Jesus. That is total crap.
I would hire the guy that runs the 600 Sq ft general store in my fucktarded town as AD/President over these socialist mouthbreathers who espouse to hate capitalism, money, and the very system that allowed the University to exist in the first place.
That guy has to make payroll and his entire livelihood on a shitty little store that caters to drunks, tweekers, loggers, and flatlander fishermen. And he does it and has nice stuff. He has shown far more REAL WORLD skills on balancing a budget.
So, yeah....I'm sure that using him as the bottom of the choice chain and embracing the nearly infinite people that would be a better choice, we'd be stuck with only having Lehman types.
This University is a bunch of bottom feeders because of politics. It's fucking embarassing.
Grow up.

Once again we're hit with stunners that would, at best, get you laughed out of the room in any other profession. But UW, in all its infinite wisdom, continues to redefine AD incompetency.
The degree in which we're* fucked if Petersen doesn't work out... I shudder to think.
I imagine it'd all be highly amusing to someone with no emotional ties to the school. 15 straight years of being mathematically eliminated from P12 contention by fucking June hasn't made the sting lessen at all.

Wait, Cohen is suggesting attendance is too low? Didn't she just say she has the best sales team already?

Did you ever stop to consider how shitty attendance would be if her sales team wasn't the best? I didn't think so.Meek said:Wait, Cohen is suggesting attendance is too low? Didn't she just say she has the best sales team already?

The silver lining in all of this is that pressure should mount to shut down and scale back some shit programs that draw no support, but suck off the football revenues to exist. It won't happen overnight, but with rising costs, it will put a spotlight on useless programs that don't justify the dollars they currently get. That's what should happen. If it doesn't, and the losses mount, pressure will mount for a different AD. Pay attention to the shit show on upper campus at present. Legislators do, and UW has an uphill battle getting more state dollars when "students" are blocking traffic on I5, and AD's are losing millions.
-
You realize you're talking about the same legislators who get their votes from the students blocking traffic, right?TurdBuffer said:The silver lining in all of this is that pressure should mount to shut down and scale back some shit programs that draw no support, but suck off the football revenues to exist. Not in the Senate. You realize Republicans run it because Conservative Dems flipped to their side, right?CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:

So 49% of the senate loves those traffic blocking protestor students. Point still stands.TurdBuffer said:

Seattle Democrats are pretty much hated outside of Seattle. In case you didn't know. I'm sure the Seattle Dems love those students and probably march along with them. But working class Everett and Tacoma military families hate their fucking guts.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:
