We can't win the one and done battles. That works for the Kentucky's and Arizona's, maybe. But not UW. This shit started with Spencer Hawes, and always sets the program back. Neither of these kids should be a top 10 pick by a long shot. Murray might shine in 3 or 4 years, but Chriss? I don't see it.

Welcome to the NBA, where "potential" is the hottest brand on the shelf and most teams flat-out stink.

Hawes and Brock were the best things about that team.

Wasn't Hawes, but the building of the team around him as the featured player, which then got uprooted when he left. Same thing happened with Wroten. He works on his drives to the hoop while other guys aren't learning to pass, move, or defend. Who reaps the biggest benefit? The team, or the featured player? It's not the player's fault. It's the coaches who build the team around one player instead of developing a complete team. Once again, it goes back to Romar. He could have designed plays to incorporate Hawes and Wroten into the entire team, but instead made them the focal point. UW will never build a good team that way. Romar has fed his own demise.

Except that's not at all what happened.

Romar sucks, but "Hawes set back the program" is a doog myth.

Hawes was soft and overrated, but he didn't set the program back at all. Neither did any other one and done at UW.
