Flip the field, and this is almost a mirror image of Deanthony Thomas' return in the Fiesta Bowl.
Both players are stupid fast.
DAT was used properly and was a total weapon. Smiff will fuck things up with Ross. Cook it.
ON WHAT GROUNDS DOES THAT MORON STILL HAVE A JOB? This is why I made that other thread -- I tried to force myself to put up a defense for him but I can't wrap my head around it. All the other great things Petersen has done -- instate recruiting, S&C, defense, ST etc, this sticks out like a sore thumb.
Also, I really hope Ross retains his speed. Good god what a burner.
I wouldn't say Ross was wasted. Thats too strong of a conclusion. Ross only played half the year on offense, was dealing with a noodle armed QB and didn't get a lot of opportunities due to the friction with Pease. The position coaches determine who plays and gets the reps.
DAT was a running back, Ross is not. DAT had 18 TD's his first two years while Ross I think had 7 TD's last year. DAT had 1150-1200 yards from scrimmage his first two years. The goal for Ross should be to reach 1000 yards from scrimmage and have 1 TD/game. Because Ross is a WR and not a RB he wont get as many touches as DAT but DAT can't indirectly impact the passing game like a WR can. Ross will put up good numbers but the key is that his presence gives a statistical boost to the passing game and we see a jump in production from the other WRs.

Yep. What they seem to be planning for McGrew is much closer to a DAT than Ross. Line him up in the backfield with the primary back and use him for quick passes and the occasional handoff or direct snap. I think Oregon calls the position Lazer or Phazer or something gay like that. If Ross is utilized correctly, he'll be more like a Jaydon Mickens (except good)
