It's the red headed step child major week.

PGA in May will be cool for the new Friscoe course, no other good future sites coming up besides that. I want it back in August.
-
I preferred the rhythm of the old season as well. Players in May. PGA in August. Used to wrap with the Firestone tourney and the Tour championship and be done anyway before football
The Fed Ex Cup has never really been something I care about all that much -
The PGA is just strange to me because the courses they tend to play are good but I'm not sure I'd consider them great and I really am not a fan of places like Quail Hollow that are regular tour stops pop back up to host majors
It's definitely the one major where my weekend interest is completely tied to what the leaderboard looks like -
They should play the whole Fedex Cup on the west coast. Courses are all nice and baked out and no thunderstorms and humidity like basically everywhere else in August. NAPA event is awesome every year in September because of that. Primetime viewing window also.RaceBannon said:I preferred the rhythm of the old season as well. Players in May. PGA in August. Frost warning Thursday morning
New York in May -
I hear the greens are firm at Chambers Bay...
-
They should book it for 2035 or something then. But Chambers would be awesome in August. The amount of years these events get booked out in advance is a problem. The US open has like one spot open in the next 10 years. PGA is booked out through 2034 I think. Pinehurst and Pebble each like 4-5 spots in the next 20, no thanks on that many.Fishpo31 said:I hear the greens are firm at Chambers Bay...

Once every 10 years was the standard for Pebble and the like. Chambers got killed on social media but I liked it
-
The city of University Place shot themselves in the dick by not green lighting new development to bring in resorts and hotels around the course. $200 million, annually, estimated in revenue for the area and they are too stupid to get it done. I doubt Chambers gets another big event if they don't figure that out. The area around the course is all housing and it's a total bitch to get in and out of there.Bob_C said:

I stand with Race. The course is a cathedral, just like the trout stream, or the ski hill, etc. Music don't belong.whlinder said:CHRIST
Like Teq said 98% of rounds aren’t real competition. Sure there is money on the line but it’s for fun. Which means
Music
Booze
Cigars (I don’t but others sure do)
Weed (a few dudes I play with light up)
Music does need to be generally agreed, so I keep customized stations of 90s alt rock, classic rock and rap/hip hop.
But it’s rare to find myself playing golf in a group where all golfers don’t share in the general agreement that we’re gonna drink, play some tunes, smoke if you wanna and talk shit.
If I wanna rock out, I've got the perfect venue at home for such things. -

I'll laugh at the frost delay while I'm up in Canada playing golf in perfect weather
Will provide a trip report upon returning ... 81% likely to be more entertaining than the PGA -
Also funny on the official pairings

That tweet is fake news

Cam Smith is my pick.

Dustin Johnson sighting. With Bryson. Scottie
That would be a good Sunday
Rahmbo Slam in jeopardy -
This actually happened to me at Druids Glen once in front of a wedding near the 9th green.

Looking like a bloodbath tournament
I'd take 275 now and wait -
Jim Nance used to freak out about Tiger f bombs. -

Top 20 in majors
Passes Rory
I think he has more in him
He takes the lead in the post Tiger era -
Rory is dead.

Jack has always been sort of a jackass when it comes to evaluating current players. He's right that Rory is old news, but Brooks is far ahead of Rahm. I don't think any of the current players ends up at 5 majors, maybe Rory wins next year at Valhalla, which is a beyond shitty Nicklaus designed course.
Brooks probably will end up at like 7.
