Washington Huskies add O’Dea’s David Schwerzel to 2026 recruiting class
Washington Huskies add O’Dea’s David Schwerzel to 2026 recruiting class

The Huskies made a very late addition to their 2026 class Wednesday evening, signing O’Dea defensive lineman David Schwerzel.
The 6-4, 260-pound defensive lineman from Seattle is a composite three-star prospect, the No. 4 player in Washington, the No. 75 defensive lineman and the No. 658 player, according to the composite rankings.
Schwerzel originally pledged to play for UCLA on June 19, but backed off his commitment after the Bruins fired coach DeShaun Foster on Sept. 14. He committed to Stanford Oct. 19, before flipping back to UCLA on Tuesday. However, Schwerzel flipped again Wednesday evening, choosing to sign for UW.
He’s the sixth local recruit to join the Huskies, and the fourth defensive tackle. UW now has 24 players signed as part of its 2026 class. Schwerzel also held offers from Cal, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Vanderbilt and Washington State, among others.

Re: The Knowledge’s 🏀 UW hoops mega thread
I've said it before and will say again, some things just are what they will always be. UW basketball has maybe the best player they've ever had, a lottery pick, and they're not even going to make the NIT.
Also, how is it year 25 of UW never having outside shooters? Even when they did over the years, it was always just one guy like Tre Simmons, Appleby, Wilcox, etc and then a bunch of absolute bricklayers.

Re: The Knowledge’s 🏀 UW hoops mega thread
Losing at home is a non starter. Having Hannes back, scoring at will in the post and still losing to UCLA is not a good look. The bench is still really thin but they badly needed to pull this one out. Going on a heater at the end and having a shot to win is fine … if you're on the road. This is the first bad loss of the season. Claude can't shoot, he's like 5-30 his last three games. It's like Hec Ed gives good shooters AIDS. You can say what you want about the offense but they scored 80 on UCLA. Giving up 82 is the real problem. How you let one guy shoot 6-7 from three is a mystery. After the first three makes you blanket that kid and say no more. Nope, just get caught slow on a defensive rotation, and he's wide open. Again. Splash. Gay.

Re: Where the Big 10 sees Washington in the pecking order
I didn't watch Penn State's games against cupcakes but the media was saying they looked shitty in their first few games. Allar was an all time overrated QB.

Re: Caulkins: Jedd Fisch’s class outranks UW Huskies signing days under Kalen DeBoer
Good for Judd. Can't wait to see how he wastes the talent.

The recruiting rankings get more and more fucked out every year. I think Judd and co are committed to playing the game though and you have to now. I don't see any way how this could be a negative. I thought Judd did a good job of talent ID and development at Arizona. I see some reasons to believe that's happening at UW too. There's a lot of shit to get mad about with him right now but this isn't really one of them.
The commitment to in-state is something I like too.

Re: Caulkins: Jedd Fisch’s class outranks UW Huskies signing days under Kalen DeBoer
Yeah, the whole "best class in UW history," thing doesn't really do much for me. Especially if Jedd can't coach them up and develop them. Deboer could clearly maximize the performance from his players, but seemed un-interested in actually recruiting. Jedd knows how to build a recruiting machine, but do his guys actually develop? I don't know. I didn't see Demond maturing over the year. I was pretty unimpressed with what we got from Jonah Coleman in his 2 years here. We overpaid for Prysock and Tacario.
