In mid-September, the Atlantic reported that Utah Sen. Mitt Romney spends $5,000 a day for security for himself and his family, given the threats he receives as a Trump critic and frequent target. Romney lamented that other Republican senators mostly remain silent about Trump, though they disdain him as much as Romney does, and didn’t vote to convict him after his post-Jan. 6 impeachment. But, Romney conceded, the others can’t afford protection.

As he mused, “It only takes one really disturbed person.”

I'll throw something out though.

It's not Trump, per se, it's the movement and the puppet masters. Trump is just the narcissistic empty vessel that wants to save and shield his own ass, being controlled and influenced by whoever. I genuinely don't think he's hugely evil at his core. But the movement he represents and the people controlling him are. He was installed. He's fully open to it, and that's why he sucks.

Anti-immigrant rhetoric, anti-LGBT rhetoric, pro-white Christian rhetoric, anti-liberal rhetoric, anti-intellectualism/science rhetoric, anti- "elite" rhetoric, political enemies rhetoric, nation in ruin rhetoric, urban centers in ruin rhetoric, massive use of propaganda, strongman idolism, symbology (the flag and the cross), nationalism, literally "make America great AGAIN" rhetoric (hearkening to an idealized past), creation of false realities through repetition. Trump being above the law, persecution complexes, victimhood, I could go on.

There's tons of fascistic shit going on in the MAGA movement and it's parroted here daily. Keeps me coming back cuz it's damn fascinating.

Trump's been doing that since 2015. That's the basis of his entire campaign. Any media who criticize him are the enemy of the people, which he has said about a million times now. Immigrants are poisoning the blood. So on and so forth. That's what got him elected.

I don't agree with any label calling all supporters of a political candidate "terrorists." But let's not act like this is anything new. You can't offended if the other side starts hitting back.

Putin been at this shit for a long time, nothing is static. It has developed over time for Viktor and Vlad.

I will back off on labeling him a fascist but the point stands on fascistic strategies or playbook, as DuckFC called it. Potato tomato. It's a fuzzy line with various definitions and extremes, like any political theory. And no example is identical. My label of him as a fascist is not serving my point. I will concede it.
