Class of 2019 Projections

So I know I did one of these back in like February but I can't find it so we'll start from scratch. I really don't know how many schollies we're going to have available so I'm just going to use last year's 21 as a starting place. Obviously more or less kids could make a big impact on the accuracy of this projection. Kids in bold are kids I'm projecting to be added to the class.

QB
Current Commits: Morris
Projected signee total: 1
What's left: DONE

RB
Current Commits: Cameron Davis
Projected signee total: 1
What's left: No idea who we end up with here, I just can't imagine us only signing one given the makeup of the roster and the depth of the RB class. I could see us settling for Taron Madison maybe? You know what, let's say we're just getting one.

WR
Current Commits: Taj Davis
Projected signee total: 2
What's left: Joe Ngata. Probably just signing one if we don't get him. Coin flip between us and Clemson at this point. I believe in Lubick. The rare out of state recruit where I think the longer he waits to commit the better that bodes for us.

OL
Current Commits: Kalepo the GOAT, Corey Luciano (JUCO)
Projected signee total: 4
What's left: Julius Buelow, Troy Fautanu, Bailey Elder (not offered)
Analysis: Fautanu is underrated and might be easier to close than he should be. Buelow's not but I like our chances anyway. Ultimately I'm guessing we cap the class there though I'd love to see them go 5 and add Elder. There are a few other guys out there we could pull if need be (Barrett Miller) but I think this will be it.

TE
Current Commits: none
Projected signee total: 1
What's left: Isaiah Foskey, Jude Wolfe, some lesser rated WTEs that we'll end up signing one of and sending to the NFL. Foskey would be chincredible.

DL
Current Commits: Sama Paama, Noa Ngalu
Projected signee total: 4
What's left: Faatui Tutele, Jacob Bandes, Apu Ika, Stephon Wright
Analysis: Could see us taking any two of the above four and would be thrilled with any combo. Tutele is the big prize and I think we have a real shot but until we start signing out of state 5 stars I'm going to expect us to miss on them. But man I want that kid.

OLB
Current Commits: Alphonzo Tuputala
Projected signee total: 2
What's left: Bralen Trice, Treven Ma'ae, Colt Ellison (lol), Drake Jackson
Analysis: Trice is the guy we seem to want the least, so yeah.

ILB
Current Commits: Miki Ah You
Projected signee total: 2
What's left: Daniel Heimuli, Maninoa Tufono
Analysis: Love to get them both, don't see how they all fit.

DB
Current Commits: Kamren Fabiculanan
Projected signee total: 4
What's left: Darien Chase, Cameron Williams, Spam Chancellor, Trent McDuffie
Analysis: I'd gladly take any 3 of the above 4, McDuffie seems least likely.

Specialists
Current Commits: 0
Projected signee total: 1
What's left: Timothy Horn (K)

This puts us at 22, and doesn't include Jordan Lolohea who I'd like to still add. Scholarship limitations are a bitch.

21 is about where I think we'll be, somehow doesn't feel like enough though. Pretty much agree with you, if we can get two of our elite DT targets I think we move Paama to OL and only take Buelow. If not, we take Fautanu/Elder. Then we'd have room to go after Tufono or another OLB and keep Phonz inside.

I think Lolohea due to when he started his mission will essentially grayshirt for this class, so I believe he would affect 2020s numbers but I’m not positive.

I think we’re still in on Enokk Vimahi as far as OL goes.

For TE, Quentin Moore is likely someone we’d look at if we miss the 2 we’ve offered.

Right on Lolohea, his last tweet was October 2017... so my guess is that hel’ll enroll in January 2020

Other than that this write up was fucking beautiful and I commend you for your work the last two days on these big write ups.

Meh, I love Kaho but he wasn't a 5 star recruit. He only got his fifth star by one service IIRC and that didn't come until after he had signed with UW.

My point was we haven't shown we can go head to head with the big boys for an out of state kid who is hyped as a 5 star. We've definitely won some significant out of state battles (Kaho, Irving, Tuli, Molden, Murphy).

IMO Faatui would be a different category of victory. He would be enough to bump Malloe to Lake tier as a recruiter.

By TSIO bored rankings, yes. By 247's rankings (not composite) it's 8 4-stars and 3 3-stars I believe (Trice, Fautanu and Horn). By Composite it's 7 4* and 4 3* (add Williams to the above 3).

Analysis: I'd gladly take any 3 of the above 4, McDuffie seems least likely.

This puts us at 22, and doesn't include Jordan Lolohea who I'd like to still add. Scholarship limitations are a bitch.

but until we start signing out of state 5 stars I'm going to expect us to miss on them.

U fkn wot m8? He got his fifth star by 247, the one ranking service you nerds all swear by.

Also, I had him as a 5-star personally. That should be enough you philistine.
Fuck, I agree he's a 5 star talent, he was my #1 kid in the class, my point is he wasn't a 5 star kid while he was being recruited. The competition level tends to be higher for kids who are five stars from day one than it is for kids who shoot up the boreds at the end of the cycle, that's all I'm trying to say.

That would be finishing with 9 4-stars and 2 3-stars. Not bad
By TSIO bored rankings, yes. By 247's rankings (not composite) it's 8 4-stars and 3 3-stars I believe (Trice, Fautanu and Horn). By Composite it's 7 4* and 4 3* (add Williams to the above 3).
You're right. I thought that Trice was given a 4th star, but he hadn't

Irregardless won't that be taking us damn near the 40x 4* mark if we finish like that? Combine that with the Eason hype working out and 2020(?) could be speshul.

Definitely not a fan of taking one RB after only taking Dick Newton last year. Other than that as long as we can pull Ngata and just forgetting about our woeful pass rusher recruiting it’s a really solid class, especially along the lines. I don’t love it as much as last years class however next year is poised to be a monster class so I’m not overly concerned.

Just give me one guy that can really rush the passer, that’s all I want.

Only taking one RB given how good the RB class is would be very perplexing. I'm really not sure what the plan is. Also not sure if they take two which other position to dock one from, unless we miss on Ngata.
Yea I totally understand. It’s just after Gaskin leaves this year there is a good chance Salvon leaves after next year if he shows he can be the every down baller we all think he can be. In two years we could have Pleasant (who I’ve liked in limited action), Mcgrew who is a midget and has done nothing so far, Dick, and the kid this year. Not a fan of that depth at all.

Dick Newt is the Jake Browning of the 2018 class

Don’t get me wrong I’m hoping they all pan out especially Mcgrew because having a baller midget white running back who loves trump would be hilarious, I just don’t think it’s going to happen.

Also I forgot Dennis said Ryan Bowman was gonna be Hau’oli Kikaha so we gucci on pass rushers for the next three years.

On a slightly more serious note if he actually does turn out to be that good and Tyron busts out this year like I’m hoping he can praise be to allah.

He compared him to Kikaha because they're both undersized and athletically limited, and both sell out to get sacks and TFLs.

Which means he can be quite good if he becomes as technically proficient as Kikaha, but will always be somewhat limited.
