Oh My! Where do I start? Their whopping 3.1 GDP growth is what this country used to do in their sleep. And this thing isn't even 2 years old yet.

They also don't have that little burden of say making sure the world doesn't blow itself up. And believe me, when I say it costs a hare over what the subsidized daycare is runnin in Sweden.

Dude finally got to budget and they offered a quote that would make Donald Trump blush.

It was something to the effect that when you compare Swedens budget to the rest of the EU, there is a "relative surplus"

Fuck I'd love to live in Utopia too. And there's little doubt that Sweden can somewhat sustain what they're doing.

But they have little burden outside of their borders. We already tried this shit under Obama. It just wasn't budgeted or funded. And our GDP didn't even reach the mythical 3%

HI. Sweden, as a non-NATO member, spends much more than most European countries for defense and Swedish defense spending as a proportion of GDP has been comparable to America's for most of the past 50'years, and spending is also rising under the current government. Sweden also maintains a vigorous defense industry which produces most of the armaments purchased by the Swedish armed forces.

Stockholm is only 430 miles from St. Petersburg.

This. I was there last year. They are currently upgrading their Air Force and building the planes themselves.

Scandinavia has passed us. It's eye opening when you see it in person.

So they are pretty well fucked no matter how little or much they spend on defense.

    Not the case.
Around the year 1900, more than half of the population of Sweden worked in the agricultural sector. Sweden was poor but it was a nation adapting rapidly to the age of industrialization. Although Sweden was a slow starter compared to other European countries, once the industrialization process set off the economy developed at a rapid pace.

The party's first chapter in its statutes says "the intension of the Swedish Social Democratic Labour Party is the struggle towards the Democratic Socialism," that is, a society with a democratic economy based on the socialist principle, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." Since the party held power of office for a majority of terms after its founding in 1889 through 2003, the ideology and policies of the Social Democratic Party (SAP) have had strong influence on Swedish politics.[15]

Yes it was poorer in the 1800s before a wave of economic reform and a long period of peace. Relatively low government spending coupled with liberal economic policies (i.e. free market capitalism) sparked a period of growth that continued until the mid 20th century when things eventually started to sour due to socialist policies enacted during the 1950s.

The Swedes needs some Tudor-like bloodshed to get Princess Sofia on the throne.
