Executive orders are constitutional all of the sudden

That's what the constitutional law professor told us.

I'm just glad conservatives can stop pretending they care about executive orders again.
-
Can we get Sledog's alter ego in here so I can learn about politics in meme-form?
-
Trump can trump BHO's executive orders by issuing his own EO's to repeal them. Ain't it great?
-
Nope, they still piss me off. It's my biggest fear with Trump. He's a guy who's gotten whatever he's wanted his whole life, he's always had people to do his bidding and when he didn't, he fired them and hired ones who would. He's not a guy who's ever had to work with others, or hell, with a process at all. He's not going to be patient enough to wait for the GOP Congress to do what he wants done, so he's just going to do it himself. Once the GOP inevitably loses Congress thanks to him it's only going to get worse.ThomasFremont said:I'm just glad conservatives can stop pretending they care about executive orders again.

^ THIS @dnc is yet another example of why those of us who decry that our once honorable party has been hijacked by religious fundies and goof ball ideologues are not celebrating in the streets.
The bounce back after he's done could be staggering, paving the way for a Bernie -level socialist to finally make it all the way. The concern, in short, is that Trump will fuck it up the too much.
When the poor white trash in the Grays Harbor and Mason counties of the country don't have a black guy to fire at anymore, and then begin to realize they have as much in common with a prep school educated Manhattan developer as they do with the man on the moon, they'll flip back to whomever the Dems throw at them. All they'll have to do is learn the lesson Hillary learned the hard way: say the word "jobs" early and often, promise you'll return the free benies Trump took away, don't mention immigration at all, lie about taxes, say something about a swamp, and for all that is holy, don't parade around or connect your candidacy with a black dude married to an uppity black woman.
If they do all that, and they will, the poor white trash will put them right back in power.
And then we're good and fucked and will live like the Swedes in no time.
McConnell, Ryan and Donnie are TERRIBLE Republicans. I need my party to get back to the point where a dummy like Rubio with no chops can't rise to leadership. Where the religious loons like Cruz are kept in a fringe box. Fuck these guys make Rand Paul seem resosonable. -

Donnie is not a religious fundie. Those dudes are a breed apart and you really need to keep an eye on 'em. They're fucking banana mystics who have more in common with radical Islam than they do w/ me. When you start making policy based on shit you read in a 2,000 year old book or that came to you in a dream, you're a fucking banana.
That's not Donnie. Donnie was an average kid with average abilities who happened to be born to a father who was hungry, relatively intelligent, hard working and brass balled - and a little lucky. The fact that he attended Wharton is of no relevance - back then it wasn't like it is today - money could buy you into any school, and that's how Donnie got to Penn. If he'd been academically gifted, he'd have gone to Harvard or Princeton or Yale. In those days, Penn was the blue collar school of the Ivy League. Now it's Cornell.
Back to the point - he's a guy who, as @dnc pointed out, by accident of his birth, is very used to getting whatever he wants, and he is also a guy who doesn't seem to be aware of his own mortality. 70 year old dudes who are still vein and afraid of being bald are just mentally somewhere else. This is not the even-tempered, good judgement man you want in the chair. He's a competitive, immature, somewhat-but-not-super smart, supremely self-indulgent, Brooklyn smart ass who, despite his wealth, age, position and good fortune in life, is still just a little insecure. I have the sense that he was once quite a splash as a decent-looking eligible bachelor among the Manhattan elite, but somehow over time morphed into a clown to those people. I think his ego is still locked in on that 80s time in his life.
And, we all know he doesn't really know what he's doing. His self-indulgence will make him eat voraciously for a while as this very novel experience keeps him distracted, and that will be ok, because everyone is still in such shock that nothing he does will phase. The protesters will keep on protesting the fact that he's even there, and his supporters will watch and wonder when it's time for them to jump from the train. But they'll all conclude it's too early right now. Eventually, though, Donnie will get bored and start shitting the bed in some way, shape or form. That's when it's going to hit the fan - that's when even the real right wingers will start to scurry from the sinking ship.
But if you think Donald J. Trump gives two shits about God or abortion, I've got a bridge I want to sell you. -

Obamas list of accomplishments reminds me of Sarks Wikipedia page. It's more of an indictment than anything else.

Good analysis. Let's not forget that Obama and Hillary helped create Trump's rise by not giving enough attention the interior of the country and pushing race, gender, and immigration status which alienated many voters sick of talking about it.
I'd like to point out to @dnc that the ACA / Obamacare was passed without any Congressional Republican support due to a budget trick called Reconciliation. Never had such a new / substantial entitlement been passed without at least 67 to 70% of the Senate. So while I don't agree with the gratuitous use of executive orders and think he should have waited longer, he and Republicans are undoing what they believe shouldn't have been passed in the first place. Whatever they propose will have to go through Congress again and will have to get Democratic votes to pass (moderate Dems in states that voted for Trump).creepycoug said:

One line in particular from that piece I'll not soon forget, which sums it up nicely. The dems lost for the reason you stated, which she goes into in some detail, and also because of "the Democratic party's obsession with cultural issues."
That's the one, and it is so fucking true. Is the country still full of racists? Of fucking course it is, especially among the lower class. Should we continue to deal with that? Yes, of course. But you can't tell a guy in Kalamazoo that you're fight for the rights of a transgender twink to pee wherever he/she/it wants. You can't get through a whole fucking speech and say the word "jobs" maybe once or twice and then shift your passionate focus to fucking bathroom issues.
Also, the issue of immigration was fucking mangled. Is illegal immigration from Mexico a huge issue? No, it's not. It's barely an issue when you actually look into it. Most of the shit you hear about illegals getting free health insurance and all that is just made up by xenophobes and dummies. When your wife comes home and says she didn't buy apples for the kids because they're 3.75 a piece, don't come running to me.
The issue really was the surging immigration of people from the middle east and our collective lack of confidence in the gov't's ability to screen out the Muslim fundies. Hillary and Obama fucked that one up by not acknowledging that fear as being legitimate, and chose instead to preach down to everyone about "tolerance". Of course there are racists morons who don't want brown people here. But there are a bunch of normal people who don't care if they come, but who also don't want to be blown up at the car wash. The Dems really fucked that up - the more time goes by, the more I believe that immigration was the deciding factor in Trump's favor. At first I didn't think it would move the needle that much, but in the final analysis, I think it really did. The Islamic thing has people freaked out like the English were during the height of the IRA scare. Very similar circumstances. All niceties aside, people generally don't like being blown up. -
The Dems lost because they chose a shit candidate and no good candidate stepped up better than the shit candidate. Trump's win was like when the Rams beat the Browns.

Trump is not in office because Hillary wasn't liberal enough. Jesus guys. Remember what we're discussing.
No - Hillary spent too much time in the south to be a Bay Area liberal. She's been in politics at the highest levels way too long to not have some dirt under her nails, and she may just be more centrist than a chick who doesn't shave her arm pits would like.
It doesn't mean she's not liberal. She's fucking liberal from where I stand. -

I would jump tax brackets, AGAIN, to pay for shit for other people who can't pay for it themselves, under Hillary.
People who tuck their cocks between their legs would be able to shit next to my daughters in public women's bathrooms all over the US if they felt more comfortable doing so, under Hillary.
A single payer system of health care would flourish, under Hillary.
Liberal.
Those things are not as likely now, under Trump.
Not liberal. -
Yes the conservatives that think she wants abortions for everyone, to confiscate all guns, to raise taxes on the wealthy to 90%, and welfare for everyone else thinks she's a liberal.creepycoug said:
Yeah, but she won the fucking ticket, and those "turned off" liberals sure as fuck did not vote for Trump.dhdawg said:There's a reason a goofy socialist who's 75 and might be an atheist was so successful. A lot of liberals were turned off by her warmongering, and corruption
What are they?PurpleJ said:Democrats aren't liberals. HTH.

Sorry - there's length, and then there's girth. I've got both.
