Aetna Ditching 70% Obamacare Business

Aetna threatened to pull out of Obamacare if their merger with Humana was blocked. But how is our private healthcare system shittier than single payer?
-
Obamacare is a shitty product, but acting like the Republicans have taken the high road on healthcare is so fucking laughable that I'm not even going to go into it. Look back to the Bush-era prescription drug handout for a little taste.
Pass single payer and raise the tax ceiling for fucks sake and join the rest of the civilized world. -
Is cute how nearly every part of your life is traxed yet you think more needs to be paid.doogsinparadise said:Obamacare is a shitty product, but acting like the Republicans have taken the high road on healthcare is so fucking laughable that I'm not even going to go into it. Obama care was written and ready to go prior to Obingo being president. Written by the Apollo Alliance. You can look them up, quite interesting.
It has to fail. We can not afford it. We are not entitled to health care at others expense. Get over it.

Do you realize you are lying? Or you just believe every random rumor you hear?Sledog said:Obama care was written and ready to go prior to Obingo being president. Written by the Apollo group. You can look them up, quite interesting.

In other words, they tried for single payer, but the (R)s forced this compromise for reform, because the insurance company lobbyists bought off the (R)s.greenblood said:The administration knew they couldn't get a single payer system passed, so they came up with a system that would be sure to fail. Once it fails, single payer will be the only option.

No...because they were promised repayment of shortages by the federal government. Then the federal government realized that paying off insurance companies with tax payers dollars wouldn't look good, so they turned face on that, and told the insurance companies to pound sand. Which is why we are where we are at.2001400ex said:
Did you hear one insurance company complain about Obamacare?greenblood said:
The brilliant idea of adding 30 million sick people that insurance companies couldn't charge proper premium for? Sounds like a great business deal if you ask me.2001400ex said:
Yes the Democrats had some brilliant plan to add 30 million people to insurance company rolls. Then after than, let's get rid of insurance companies.greenblood said:This was the plan from the get go. The administration knew they couldn't get a single payer system passed, so they came up with a system that would be sure to fail. Once it fails, single payer will be the only option. Pretty sick if you ask me.
How about both parties look at Obamacare and fix some shit with it. Rather than sit here and do nothing about bitch about it.
Didn't think so. -
Again the pricing had government incentives built into it. The government reneged on their promise, so the insurance companies were left with the bill.2001400ex said:
Again. When Obamacare was being passed, did you hear one insurance company come out against Obamacare?pawz said:
If the OP isn't a medical insurer's indictment on obamacare, I don't know what is.2001400ex said:

Honda Fucking Stupid
Is it Obama's fault that some insurance companies priced their exchange plans incorrectly? How about insurance companies take personal responsibility for their own fuck up.
But I agree with you on one thing. They did fuck up by believing the goods that Obama's administration had promised them would actually come through. -
Price controls do not equate to cost controls dumbfuck. Costs have spiraled out of control thanks to increased demand, and government regulation that simultaneously limits competition and supply. But how are you Hondo FS?2001400ex said:
Actually it does specify certain cost limits. But how are you stupid?pawz said:My favorite part of Obamacare, is how the bill ultimately just insures payment of medical liabilities and doesn't keep the costs imposed by the medical cartel in check.
So there is that. -

Bush's fault IMO

Wait, so now the exchanges with transparent health care plans are limiting competition?Southerndawg said:

I'm assuming the merger with Humana would provide the necessary financial backing needed for Aetna to stay in the exchanges. That doesn't seem like an odd request.UWhuskytskeet said:Aetna threatened to pull out of Obamacare if their merger with Humana was blocked. Pretty much every other advanced country has single payer or some kind of similar "evil" socialized medicinegreenblood said:This was the plan from the get go.
