Video of the crash is crazy to watch. Awful awful tragedy. Evidently a few? members of the US Skating Team and coaches were on the flight. I don't follow skating closely but hate to see athletes who represent their country die in a senseless and avoidable way.
I'm with you, and am pleasantly surprised at Trump's libertarian turn. But with that I want there to be a realization that certain aspects of government are good, and that if you want to shrink the thing then alternatives have to be planned, not just have the plug pulled overnight. Privatizing ATC would be great but there has to be a plan.
Tons of close calls in Austin and other airports, so it was a matter of time
I read something on social media about congress authorizing more flights to and fro Reagan, which was already pretty busy, and something about Delta lobbying, which also seems plausible
Blaming Trump on his 10th day is FS, but I knew it would happen
That's a fairly standard operating path for choppers in the DC airspace. I believe most flights are classified as training for some reason. There is constant chopper traffic up and down the east bank of the river and has been for 40 years since Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is right there. It is well known that the runway 33 approach goes by that airspace.
They're always running training exercises from Andrews or Belvoir. I lived in the flight path of DCA for a few years- always saw jets and military copters in the same area.
Airlines and the government ATC have been making DEI hires for years and there have been many near misses. It was a matter of time before something like this happened. If it has nothing to do with it, I'll stand corrected.
Which is more likely to be a contributing factor, a hiring freeze that started a few days ago or DEI that's been policy for the better part of a decade?
That's IF you want to go there. I'm content to keep this Nebraska classy and LIPO.
Actual T's and P's to the families. I can't imagine.

And Russians
My girl Hallie is on the MSNBC talking about plane crashes. I can now rest.
NOT GOOD!!
have they figured out why that black hawk was running training exercises in commercial airspace?
90% sure DEI had something to do with it

Okay
And what information to you have to suggest DEI would have anything to do with it?

Route 4, max height is 200 feet on that route. Don't know if the chopper cleared their ceiling or drifted west of their route.
