My oldest brother retired a few years ago he was a captain for a major airlines. My high school buddy was a Marine Harrier pilot for the gulf war and Bosnia and about to retire from the airlines. He is an FAA designee for his airline and certifies their pilots. My friends says the crap he's giving check rides a certs to is not good. DEI struck there too. I travel by RV most of the time myself.

@Sledog My dad's first uncle second wife removed runs the FAA bro. I am also not surprised that you live in an RV. You can find @Logistics and I in the pilot lounge baby.

I don't live in an RV I travel in one. I don't like flying because it sucks but long flights are all I do if I travel and it's farther than we want to drive. Airlines seats are more than half a fit narrower than my shoulders. Uncomfortable unless I 1st class. So we RV and first class the liner stuff. But I really don't want a DEI pilot flying me anywhere.

Just remember how big DEI was/is for woke dems and those who vote for them. Trump was criticized today for mentioning DEI. Leftards still think that DEI somehow (exactly how is never mentioned) and that mentioning DEI is bigoted/racist/homophobic and system institutional racism. Like I said, they have learned nothing from the November vote. It is still just messaging. But having an actual conversation about it is bad form.

FLASHBACK: Biden's FAA Focused on Diversity, Hiring Workers With Severe Disabilities

    Matt Margolis | 12:21 PM on January 30, 2025

While we don’t know yet what caused the midair collision between the U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter and a civilian airliner in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday night, renewed attention is turning to Biden-era DEI initiatives at the FAA and whether they may have played a role.

“The Federal Aviation Administration is actively recruiting workers who suffer ‘severe intellectual’ disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website,” the New York Post reported a year ago.

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website stated. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability, and dwarfism.”

The FAA’s website also noted that individuals with “severe” mental and physical disabilities are the most underrepresented group within the federal workforce.

“Because diversity is so critical, FAA actively supports and engages in a variety of associations, programs, coalitions, and initiatives to support and accommodate employees from diverse communities and backgrounds. Our people are our strength, and we take great care in investing in and valuing them as such,” the website stated.

The initiative is part of the FAA’s “Diversity and Inclusion” hiring plan, which claims “diversity is integral to achieving FAA’s mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel across our nation and beyond.”

The FAA’s website shows the agency’s guidelines on diversity hiring were last updated on March 23, 2022.

The FAA, which is overseen by Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s Department of Transportation, is a government agency charged with regulating civil aviation and employs roughly 45,000 people.

Obviously, there is no factual basis to support the claim that “diversity” enhances the safety or efficiency of travel — absolutely none. Common sense alone tells us that individuals with certain “severe intellectual disabilities” present a significant risk to the flying public.

“The aviation industry has a responsibility for traveler safety just as the health care industry has a responsibility for patient safety. These responsibilities outweigh other factors when considering applicants to work in those fields. People with disabilities who can successfully complete the task should never face discrimination,” Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, chairman of Do No Harm, told Fox News Digital last year.  However, he noted that identity politics is “creating opportunities for so-called oppressed groups by lowering standards for entry into those fields and thereby endangering the safety of those which it’s designed to serve. Some endeavors simply do not lend themselves to identity politics.”

Conservatives were quick to criticize the policy.

“As someone who has been flying all over America — and sometimes the world — for decades, I've had to put my faith and trust in everyone involved in the safety of the aircraft and the journey,” PJ Media’s Stephen Kruiser wrote at the time. “The modern airline industry has, for the most part, earned that faith and trust. Now it seems as if it's trying to see how quickly that trust can be eroded.”

Oh wow @WestlinnDuck thinks that someone over 5 feet tall is only allowed to be a controller! Also, this articles discusses the FAA overall. There are other people who work for the FAA other than air traffic controllers. Someone with epilepsy can't process a 3rd class medical certificate? Someone who is hard of hearing can't work for FSDO in the lobby as an assistant? An army veteran who had their leg blown off form an IED can't do air traffic control and do ground control? (these are pilot terms let me know if you need clarification).

Once again I am SHOCKED to hear this board say that the only people that can work for the FAA are tall white people but I am honestly shouldn't be surprised. A blind Wal Mart greeter is still a "Walmart" employee. It doesn't mean that they are the ones calibrating the tv's in the showroom!!!

If you guys REALLY cared about aviation safety (or actually knew anything about aviation in general) you would know that the removal of a co-pilot, removal of ATC towers at non major airports and remote ATC management (AKA controller isn't sitting at the airport) but I can't seem to find the outrage.

I also would post a tail number but I actually own the plane and you can find my address so I dont want you weirdos showing up at my house or @Sledog to park infront of it and become my unwanted neighbor.

Buddy of mine is a Delta pilot- they just hired a pilot who failed four checkrides. If you think there's no DEI in the airlines you haven't been listening to Ed Bastian.

@georgiaduck which checkride did he fail? Private? Commercial? Tailwheel? Float? Multi? It is common to have a failed check ride and also weird to have your fellow co worker check you up on IACRA (will let you google that). It is not unheard of to have money hungry DPE's (will let you google that) fail you to have them clock in another $1k exam fee because you did something that they deemed unsafe. Now what is unsafe is subjective by them, so it causes a lot of problems.

Once again a board full of "friends of XYZ". Let me know when you boys get in the sky for real (other than @Logistics he has passed his board checkride with his VFR post).

The answers to all your questions is no. If they are qualified, then fine hire them. But that would mean they were competent. If they aren't, then to get the "numbers" quota right you have to hire incompetent dwarves. You leftards live in a bubble when you think that when the Secret Service was looking to hit 30% DEI candidates that they were talking about file clerks? You think that Mayor Buttplug who couldn't fix North Bend pot holes was competent to run the Transportation Dept? When the CEO of United was promising to hire DEI pilots he was talking about flight attendants? If the FAA was dropping white job applications based solely on race, especially white males, they were interested in competence? Leftards lied and love to be lied to. You think proper handling of nuclear waste was Sam Brinton's priority? Or the dementia patient's?

lol that’s a surprise. EverettChris chiming in on a subject he doesn’t know a thing about?

Actually it’s not a surprise. That’s every subject EverettChris chimes in on. That man is stupid.

Bless all the victims in that crash. I’m not interested in the politics either way here.

I don't need to google any of it HB, you may continue on with your private circle jerk.

Who knows which four- (actually five after I confirmed with my friend). Prospective pilot checked a box and had a relative who was pushing Delta for her as well.

Again, if you're not listening to what Ed says about DEI, you aren't paying attention.

  • WestlinnDuckWestlinnDuck Member Posts: 16,129 Standard Supporter

Leftards don't have to pay attention. It's all based on feeling and lies. Unfortunately for them more voters did pay attention and realized they were being lied to. About everything. Solution: Better lies, no policy changes needed.

You’re broken, Spaz. Rants and personal shots at posters aside, you’re losing it, asshole.

Trump is so inside the heads of you and @CallMeBigErn that if I gave even one shit about either of you, I’d be concerned for both of you. I do have a tiny bit of hope for Ern, but that’s fading fast as the his descent into madness continues to gain momentum.

How are either of you two going to last 4 years with Literal Hitler running the country? He’s made you snap in under two weeks.

I do hope you don’t take out your nervous breakdowns on people who are actually in your life, if you have any.

There’s trolling, which is what H does almost always unemotionally, and then there is whatever you two dopes are doing now on this board.

  • SwoopTheMoonSwoopTheMoon Member Posts: 165

As a licensed pilot, I just hope research is done that’s all @EverettChris!

  • HuskyBuckHuskyBuck Member, Swaye's Wigwam Posts: 2,160 Swaye's Wigwam

It’s not personal Chris. I don’t hate you, it’s just you put your thought process down and your logic and I can’t help it. You dumb bro.

lol and why you guys think that swoop and I are the same person… y’all crazy. I like you guys but your detective work needs some work

yeah I’m sure Derek doesn’t have measures in place to prevent alternate accounts. I’m gonna actually try to create an alt just to see if I can do it .

I need your stewardess body count, please.

Hooked up with a batshit crazy latina flight attendant once. Ai carumba!

  • EverettChrisEverettChris Member Posts: 5,730 Standard Supporter

You just did respond to yourself, Spaz.

    Can’t even get that right.

  • SwoopTheMoonSwoopTheMoon Member Posts: 165

@PurpleThrobber I dont have a stewardess body count because its too easy. I go for gate attendants instead. A single "hey I can't get my foreflight to synch to the EFB" is the money convo starter because they say ewwwwwrrr what's Foreflight?? From there its easy baby.
