On the one hand, you have the consistency of culture, work ethic, offensive philosophy. On the other hand, we just got burned by promoting the Lieutenant with no head coaching experience.
Gut instinct: He won't be as bad as Lake, I'm not sure many could be. He also won't be as good as KDB. I'm not sure many could be.
The way I’m thinking it has basically already happened we are waiting for it to play out. All of this is extremely painful … it is affecting me at work and at home.
I think Grubb could be ok … and by ok I mean 10 wins is ceiling … maybe a miracle we squeak back into playoffs one year. We won’t have the horses to make a deep run. But the norm will be between 6-6 and 9-3.
It may mean semi retirement as a fan…
I went to that game in Houston with highest of hopes for that evening and the future. Right now I feel like a close friend died …
I am hoping for him to stay. But if you could get equal or better money and an easier path to the top how can you blame him.
What gets me is that Nick retired because Bama is no longer the easier road. His guys portaled all over America and they lost their edge on buying players and don't want to pay to keep them
I didn't march with Sherman to the seas to have some rebel take my football coach
I had a horrible feeling when I watched the Pac-12 Forever Champions video and there was a ton of Grubb it and barely any DB and then again in the following videos. UW is 0-3 from promoting the coordinator. It's kind of like how they couldn't hire a defensive guy like Wilcox after two years of Lake and Donovan.
The only coordinator promotion I can think of working long-term is David Shaw and Harbaugh left the cupboards even stronger than they were in his final season. Deboer has recruited just a bit better than Lake and taken layups in the portal.
Part keeping the guy to maintain continuity is having players you don't want to leave.

Honestly, I think it'd be "meh."

If not DeBoer…. It’s gonna be hard for me to give a shit for a little while.
If he's good he's leaving. Or he sucks
Either way it won't be interesting

If Dannen takes him then he's no better than Jen.
