It's about the hypocrisy involved in dismissing them as simple thugs. Good Fellas and Casino are awesome movies, but they're more about the blood and violence of the story, which appeals to young and simple men. The more refined intellectual will appreciate the GF. To put it in terms you can understand: GF and GF II are novels; Good Fellas and Casino are video games. -

I said what I said. Nobody under 40 has chimed in that Godfather is great. They are both overrated movies. Believe me, I wanted to like them, and I don’t completely hate them. They are well made, but so fucking long and boring.I question whether you guys all really love the movie or if you feel you have to becuase it was drilled in your head that they are the greatest movies of all time.
