Not sure who I'd take between Sitake and DeBoer, but this would run somewhat counter to the idea that people inside the building already know the hire.

TBH, who fucking knows if Riley is a better coach than DeBoner or Campbell. He got handed the keys to a juggernaut(he helped create) and kept smashing. That's a wee bit different than winning in Ames, Iowa, for example. Obviously a grand slam hire but we still need to LIPO.

Tend to agree with this. There is an element of luck involved. College football is littered with “can’t miss” guys:
1) Harbaugh 2) Chip 3) Mora 4) Jimbo 5) Leach 6) Sark 1,2 & 3
All struggled. Java at the old wild west sports board hated Pete Carroll. Many did. Who knew Don James burned with intensity?
Nothing is for certain except maybe Saban and Urban. Programs have tried to buy championships for a long time. Bruce Snyder, Larry Smith and many others I can’t remember.
Not saying message board idiots don’t know anything. I suspect they have some insight. Maybe better than boosters and maybe some administrators. I’m saying maybe no one knows shit. Nothing is for certain.

Moment of zen is over
Dabo was an assistant for mediocre and shitty teams at Clemson. The Mel Tucker hire was mostly mocked but he went 10-2 this year. I think the 9.5 mil a year contract will come back to bite him. Texas and Florida have multiple bad hires. It’s all a crapshoot.
USC hiring Riley is big time. That’s a hell of a hire. DeBoner would be a boring hire to many but there is plenty to be optimistic about. Same with Campbell, but he has a more well known name. Aranda would have been exciting but he also went 2-7 last year and he inherited a program that was winning under Matt Rhule.
Again, it’s a crapshoot. We’ll know in 3 years. I like DeBoner and have since his win at UCLA after also watching the game against Oregon. Places get better with him and worse when he left. It’s a good sign he’s a net positive as a coach. Sign me up. I don’t dislike Campbell either, but think his longer track record is also masking that DeBoner could have more potential. 67-3 is 67-3. He left that school and the comfort of it to get a big time job like UW and it could finally happen.
She better hire Wilcox before he gets snatched up.
What must Wilcocks be thinking today after lobbying behind the scenes for the job and never even making the top 5 and now being stuck at Cal where everyone knows you tried to abandon ship. lulz. What a dolt.

Sonny Dykes before him was interviewing for lesser jobs including sec OC positions while still employed there as the head coach. It’s obvious the coaches hate that school. Really fascinating to watch. He probably would like to be fired at this point.

Good point, it's like me taking over the Oklahoma program in the EA Sports CFB game. But I'd do better than 1-3 in bowl games....even if I had to reset once or twice to get to 2-2!

I wonder what number Campbell is looking for if he even wants to leave ISU which I still doubt
