A Crystal Ball vote is in for one of the top defensive backs out West in the 2021 class and it's a program from within the region that appears to be in the pole position.KrunkJuice said:Blair Angulo w/ the CB for the fighting Jimmy Lakes!
Washington hosted the aforementioned Top247 prospect earlier this off-season and received the latest vote this week at a position of need in the current cycle.
Steven Ortiz, a four-star cornerback from Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge, made it to Seattle for an important unofficial visit and that trip keeps resonating, a source tells 247Sports.
Ortiz, according to another person with knowledge of the recruitment, has mulled a potential commitment to the Huskies but nothing is imminent given the recruiting dead period and uncertainty heading into possible spring visits. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete has roots on the East Coast but has really hit it off with some connections in the Pacific Northwest since joining Seattle-based 7-on-7 club team FSP.
Oregon, at the moment, appears to be another big contender for Ortiz, who has visited Eugene a couple times already, including seeing the Ducks win in thrilling fashion against Washington State last season. Penn State has been thought to be a strong suitor as well.
With a lean, muscular build and strong lower half, Ortiz is a versatile and stingy defender who thrives in one-on-one battles near the line of scrimmage. He is comfortable in space and sticks to receivers in and out of their breaks, doing well at the point of attack and displaying good ball skills. Ortiz is a competitive play-maker with the straight-line speed to blanket his side of the secondary and flashes top level instincts whether he's at corner, nickel or safety.

Wonder if this is the "db coaches earning their pay" commit from last week

This might be the first time I've seen a top whatever announcement with #BowDown as our call sign. Loving this.Neighbor2972 said: -

We better not lose this kid to fucking Minnesota. What a lame program.
-
The worst part of this is, he has never even visited Minnesota. He took a "virtual visit". We might lose a guy we had all-but tied up, to a school he hasn't even visited.
-
If the team with 3 DB coaches on staff looses a DB from Arizona to the frozen norf, fucking #FireLake

That’s why I completely don’t understand this Minnesota buzz, because of a few twitter follows? Is there any actual substance?bananasnblondes said:The worst part of this is, he has never even visited Minnesota. He took a "virtual visit". The Minnesota mod says that he's putting his crystal ball in for Minnesota, but doesn't want to log it into the system so it's shown across the network.OreDawg said:
