John Donovan named OC

At first glance it seemed like a poor hire. As I read more about him, it began to seem really shitty.

That was exactly how it was for me. My self-dialogue was, "well hang on, find out more. There has to be a good reason for this."dooginthehall said:At first glance it seemed like a poor hire. As I read more about him, it began to seem really shitty.

Tbh, we should have kept Bush if this is what we were gonna get.
-
If his coaching of Blake Bortles is a sign, we will be in the cellar in no time at all.
-
-
Jags wouldn't even let him be a position coach.
But as Pete said - it's all about the kids. And Donovan has 3 of them to feed. -

Hahahahaha holy fuck that’s terrible! Did our PR department commit seppuku so soon after Pete left?UWhuskytskeet said:There is a new Slingblade in town:

The program is over.

I stop just short of wondering if he's somehow behind thisPurpleBaze said:A Vanderbilt background is always special.
@ToddTurnerLIVES -
What a fucking disaster of a coaching search. My excitement for Jimmy Lake has gone from raging to completely flaccid in 3 weeks.

Penn St fans on reddit:
“Not to doom and gloom things but he’s our worst OC of the past two decades.”
“He ran a read option with Christian Hackenberg”
“Bubble screens, jet sweeps, and getting sacked on a two man rush.”
“The Jimmy Lake era has ended before it even began.”
“I hope y’all like jet sweeps to the short side of the field.” -

More of the same shit. -
A play in 4 acts:
Act I - Initial reaction is "who?" - feeling bad
Act II - Look up his background - feeling worse
Act III - Almost everyone on HCH hates the hire - shaking and about to vomit
Act IV - @Dennis_DeYoung is livid - feeling much better, quite optimistic really
From here until the first drive against Michigan, or at least until the first drive of the spring game, I plan to be obnoxiously leading the John Donovan bandwagon. -
Rumor is he convinced jimmy with his scheme. It's a combination of air raid and triple option concepts.
-
What is it about football and the love of hiring failed coaches? This guys fucking sucks, pick a random OC from the FCS, at least you have a prayer.
-
When will heard decommit

remember when bush did that with browning against aubbie? pepperidge farm remembers.NEsnake12 said:

Loser progrum..... I'm out.

Was Lake all in on Moore and when he told him to pound sand we went to the homeless shelter???
-
-
At least with Bush you had that high ceiling potential, he ended up being low floor but at the time it was exciting with his previous recruitment and WR success. Can't find anything exciting about this. Kellen Moore all of a sudden looks like 2007-08 Chip Kelly.

I think that he will be good here. This always plays out when the entire fan base hates the hire.
If you look into the circumstances at Vandy and Pedo State I think he will do well. Vandy has shit talent (think Oregon State) and put up the only respectable offense they’ve had in three decades, and Pedo State had generational talent at QB and RB the year after he left.
Classic armchair evaluators on HH sitting at home in their mom’s basement picking belly button lint out of their beer gut and Doritos out of their neckbeards. -
Literally all weº have to cling to, is our hate.LongDukDong said:I think that he will be good here. This always plays out when the entire fan base hates the hire.

Well, UW has insured that Cal will continue to have a better culture. I'm honestly shocked by this hire.

I'm going to blindly predict that Donovan will become our best OC since Gilby so that once that asshole @dnc bumps this thread in two years, I'll be the only one who was RIGHT. Can't wait for all my future chins!
-
I can't even fathom what this guy said to convince Lake he'd be successful.

He didn't have to say anything.Sources said:I can't even fathom what this guy said to convince Lake he'd be successful.
All he needed was a pulse.
