The truth is the average American doesn’t give a shit. They have jobs, insurance, got a tax cut and their retirement accounts are growing.

The average American doesn’t have a retirement account, has shitty insurance, can’t afford a $400 emergency expense without borrowing, and didn’t notice their $.13 tax cut.

    Otherwise, great point.
    They sound pour.
Exactly. And their numbers are growing.

Damone’s comments on the “average” American are pretty far off the mark. Maybe they don’t care, but his reasoning is backwards. They’re too busy trying to survive to give a fuck about politics.

Meh, the average does ok. Most have coverage from work, 401ks are up. Wages up. People know it and if trump wins again, this is why. The economy. It’s always the economy. The number of poor has been decreasing some, although it has moved very little over years.

Median reveals a 25% dip in household income from the average (but I’m sure you knew that since it’s right there in your link). Putting it at the $60k range.

About 49% of Americans have employer provided insurance.

55% own any stocks at all. Guess who owns most of that?

So I maintain my position that “average” Americans aren’t winning. And I think that’s a long term problem.

What 25% dip? You can’t compare the median to the average, and claim a 25% dip. The median income dropped about $284.00, from 2018, which is less than a half percent drop.
Not a year over year “dip”.

Damone is quoting the “average” household income, which is inflated by a few high end earners.

If Bill Gates and I walk into a bar, the average wealth of the people in the bar is in the billions. Newsflash, I’m not a billionaire. So while mathematically true, it paints an inaccurate picture.

But when you look at the median instead of the average, annual household income is 25% lower ~$80k vs ~$60k. Median is a more accurate measure of the average American household income.

I always laugh when people try to lie with statistics and are too dumb to realize it. 8th graders understand the difference between average and median.

Look HondoFS and company, showing the median is less than the average doesn’t prove a dip (your statement). No one else specified any numbers (median, average, or...?), so you created this straw man argument to make a point. Bob will be along in a minute with the insults.

You would think that after all of that compelling and "damning" testimony the past few weeks it would be higher than that.

Yes, I would. All that "damning" testimony and it still barely moves the needle.
