Old man Nacho and old man Ivar used to have a couple early morning drinks at the Pier 54 Ivars bar. Old man Nacho then continued delivering bread for Gai’s bakery.

Long time UW Crew Corch, Bob Ernst, was a notorious hater of the MV Kalakala, when it was mored on Lake Union for a number of years. To paraphrase: "why did they have to bring this rotting hulk of shit into our? lake?".
Also, how fucking stupid was it for Seattle to rip out its cable car lines in 1940. San Francisco had the foresight to keep a few and continues to reap the rewards.

Hydro plane racing ~ the complete magic of Seattle vs Detroit with Seattle kicking detroits ass and taking names ~ not unlike the UW crew boats over the same time~ period. Mike drop.
Another lost thing which is a bummer is the loss of coolest theatres in town... the orpheum was world class and they ripped it down to build the corncob twin towers of a worthless throwaway fuck of a hotel. and the same thing has happened with several other venues.. the Coliseum was pretty cool and it became the freaking banana republic / gap... so worth it culturally etc.

I saw the Sound of Music first run at the 5th Avenue with my mom. Classic theater
Neighborhood drug stores that sold cosmetics, comic books and toys for kids, where the owner / pharmacists made the pills by hand out of raw chemicals, and you could sit at the luncheon counter while you waited and be served an ice cream Sunday or a Sarsaparilla float.
Every neighborhood had at least one ~ Montlake had two ~ Jake's which was next door to the cool little Montlake Library [still there? hope so] and Don's which was across the street and always had the best selection of comic books. Jake made the finest ice cream creations ~ the guy loved kids and was solid as a confection creator

Almost Live is another thing that's not here anymore, either.
Benbow, however, is open again.
