Weird as fuck interview. A Twitter guy had said that UW could oddly beat Ohio State in NIL with him if they really wanted to but I assumed that was BS and then there was the thing which was out there claiming Ohio State gave him $750k and UW offered $250k.dnc said:

Not even the doogiest doog of doogs could even begin to argue UW has better set up QBs to get drafted than Ohio State in recent history but The whole couldn't get developed at UW thing is ridiculous bullshit with Deboer and Grubb in Seattle. If Penix didn't have a terrible injury history and if Haener was bigger they'd both be first round locks where otherwise they aren't even UDFA guys.
The doog will always find a way -
I said this in an earlier post but tOSU didn’t give the 750k, I think this kinda validates that even more.
Why would they give this kid from a state that should be a fucking nuclear test site 750k but CJ Stroud only made 350?
Anyways, I’ll be excited watching him lead NDSU to another FCS championship in 2024 against SEMO, kinda glad we didn’t get his smug ass

Not to mention that Day’s offense is literally a cancer to QB Development. I’m sorry.
Justin Fields, JT, Cardale, NONE OF THEM CAN READ A FUCKING DEFENSE.
CJ = reads half of the field, looks for checkdown, refuses to run for the first. Trash.
Fields = one read, run. Shittier Lamar Jackson
JT = a wide receiver
Braxton = a wide receiver
Cardale = drunk uncle on thanksgiving throwing bombs, now plays for some indoor league or some shit.
I’ve never seen an Ohio state QB sit in the pocket and dissect a defense like Penix did this season. -
Another question is why does Ohio State have this kid take a public shot at UW when they've taken everyone they've wanted from the state of Washington? JTT and Emeka never had to justify going there.
-
Because we pay now. They don't want to get into bidding wars. Awful take. These kids go out and risk catastrophic injury to entertain adults. There is definitely value exchanged.DerekJohnson said:

Basically, I’d argue it’s even more dumbed down than a traditional air raid, lots of half field reads - zone side and man side, not like the Pirates offense where anyone could throw for 350yards a game if they could recognize the difference between cover 2 and 4backthepack said:

tOSU’s run game is absolutely horrendous for a team with multiple 1-3 round picks on the OL, it’s truly a disgrace and Day knows it.

Jesus, for 95% of all players college is the highest they will ever go, and they risk nothing to partake in the only league that will subsidize the huge cost of supporting them as players. They are lucky that the opportunity exists.TTJ said:

here's a thought. Maybe Deboer dropped him behind closed doors after Penix announced. Maybe he got sick and tired of the kid jerking him around being committed but going on visits to another school. Make your choice or quit wasting my time sort of thing, other holes to fill. Maybe the kid said I want MORE money or I'm going to tOSU. Who knows. The kid's comments seem like a real cheap shot at DeBoer, like he he's pissed at him. Maybe tOSU isn't giving him jackshit besides a scholarship. Who knows.
I don't think we'll see this punk swing back around like we have with Bernard. I think this staff is done with this kid. One thing is for sure, he's been a big fish in a small pond his entire football career. He's with the big boys now. -
I chalk this up to a kid who’s never had a hard day in his life that needs to find an edge somewhere to create a chip on his shoulder.
-
I wouldn't give him that much credit. Apparently tOSU doesn't have a big dick NIL. Trying to act like UW is Texas A&M is hilarious and insulting at the same time, though. All he had to say was he thinks tOSU will develop him best and shut his mouth after that. The rest of it sounds like a line from his needle-dick coach.JoeEDangerously said:I chalk this up to a kid who’s never had a hard day in his life that needs to find an edge somewhere to create a chip on his shoulder.

Talented football players tend to get drafted by the NFL.
Talented football players playing with other talented football players tend to do well in college, (stats etc)
Dwayne Haskins couldn't fucking throw in the NFL. Painful to watch. RIP
Justin Fields is TBD. So is CJ Stroud.
Getting paid in the first round is worth a lot, but how exactly did they develop?
Joe Burrow, meanwhile, hey that guy's a good QB. Weird, how did he do at tOSU? -
OSU NIL most likely is paying him more. There have been multiple kids this year who’ve said some variation of the line “I got offered more in NIL at x school, but chose here because it’s a better fit”. It’s probably a lie. They feel sheepish for taking the money + know no one can prove it’s a lie + it immediately endears them to the fans.
-
It’s never about the money with the kids. They just want to focus on the best fit. Respect the decision.
-

I think he’s good too, but I kind of doubt he ever starts at OSU. My money is still on him hitting the portal in the next 12-24 months. And while I can’t stand this little shit and hope his career is violently ended by a 6’5” army ranger, DeBoer is an adult who won’t burn this bridge. 10 percent chance he’s starting for OSU in ‘24 against us, 5 percent chance he’s starting for us in that game. 85 percent chance he’s holding a clipboard or on some other roster.RoadDawg55 said:

Ohio State has two QB's, one a four* 98 rating and the other a 5* 98 rating and both were top 100 recruits on all services coming out of HS. Both are officially on notice by their coaching staff and both better be working harder than ever in the off season. My guess is much like UW's 4* and 5* QB's they both probably suck. Kienholz has a 50% chance to start game one next year. That said, Grubb said on the radio that transfer QB's were lined up to come to UW before Penix announced he was coming back. I'm just not that concerned with this staff/offense finding a capable QB whenever they need one.

Would have been great to have gotten him but with the portal HS QB’s not as important. As they once were.
-
In a perfect world you'd always have a veteran clipboard holder like Morris and a high ceiling freshman like Kienholz as backups for your Penix. I think two high end underclass guys is too much to ask for at UW right now. Maybe in a year or two.RTD said:Would have been great to have gotten him but with the portal HS QB’s not as important.
