I still can't determine whether Stoops was purely you're fan-fic (kudos in that case), or if there was some substance to that. Irregardless, my hopes all down hill since then.backthepack said:

I want Deboer to shut me up and get Donte/Tosh on his defensive staff. Right on cue there’s Donte Williams buzz on twitter, please god.GrundleStiltzkin said:

I know Tosh can recruit, can he coach worth a shit? Mute point because I just can't see AD taking him back.backthepack said:

This is where I'm at. It's very hard to explain the logic because it is tortured and twisted. Damone and Fudgie are not wrong that we should expect a homerun hire, but once all the home runs told us to fuck off, what are we supposed to do? And did anyone really think Jen wouldn't get told to fuck off?GreenRiverGatorz said:
It's acceptable because Jen whiffed on the top target, and he's the next guy in line. It's actually the definition of an "acceptable hire". Not a home run, not an obvious dud. Now don't twist, Jen should still be fired, but that's completely separate from having mild optimism about Deboner.backthepack said:
Explain to me how this an acceptable hire? Don’t cite ceiling based off of NAIA track record. He almost beat Oregon once? cool.Gladstone said:Go outside.
Now go gorge yourself on Xanax and LIFPO. Or a beach walk. Or kill yourself. I don't really care, just shut up for a few hours.
I love DeBoner when viewed through the prism of "he's the best that's left." I like the guy. I don't mind taking a chance on him at all for all the reasons I have mentioned in other threads. That said, we'd all take Stoops any day of the week over him. Or Riley. Etc.
So yeah, I'm a battered woman. -
Is that all stemming from him following Softy?backthepack said:

Donte Williams isn’t staying at USC with Grinch following Riley. He’ll be looking for an upper level DC job or a G5 head coaching job. Sign me up though
-
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he stays at USC. They let him keep associate coach title or whatever, dump a boatload of more money in his lap, and his profile continues to rise as USC is now the hottest brand in college football again.
Hopefully Riley doesn’t like him & cuts him loose tho. -
Donte would be awesome. Tosh is never coming back, so reconcile yourself to that now. He got openly caught here. No chance. Sadly.
-
That’s fine. I’d suck dick for Donte.Gladstone said:Donte would be awesome. Tosh is never coming back, so reconcile yourself to that now. He got openly caught here. No chance. Sadly.

Who did Tosh bring to UW aside from Shaq? Tosh was essentially a bust at UW. He was brought in for one player.Gladstone said:Donte would be awesome. Tosh is never coming back, so reconcile yourself to that now. He got openly caught here. No chance. Sadly.

USC pulled a big dick move, no doubt about it. Matt Campbell would not have been a big dick move. It would have been a conservative, almost cowardly acceptance of 2nd-3rd place in the league. That's Campbell's ceiling with a strong USC.

I have an aborted post attached to almost every thread now it seems. Fuck! Need to get my reads down.
-
I was told there was a St. Tosh Day Massacre where he brought in the best class ever.
Also, 2012 was fun, a bumper crop even. -
Agreed.GrundleStiltzkin said:

But how much grasping is needed to think Donte Williams followed Softy because he admires his work and respects his excuse making?
The former is grasping. The latter simply defies all reason. -
Qualls , Eva, the one pass rusher that was super talented that couldn’t get to practice and stuff and got kicked off. I can’t remember if he got jojo Mathis or not.chuck said:

I think that’s about it but I could be wrong. -
I still mark the fuck out for Greg Gaines tho

Like the Big 12, you don’t need even a top 50 defense to win the PAC 12.haie said:Still not that worried about SC. Dude was shit on defense for awhile and wasn't exactly immortal in his conference. Texas his only threat was dysfunctional the whole time except for 1 year.
He's going to the South because it's soft af and Whittingham is retiring soon.
I'm fine with UW taking boner (or campbell) but I am a dooglet. -
USC had one of the worst defenses in the conference this year. Having sizzle is great but I’m done with 4* and 5* kids that are coached like shit and play soft.NEsnake12 said:Donte Williams isn’t staying at USC with Grinch following Riley. You guys are living in a dream world. We're not the 1980-1990 Huskies any more. The program has run the arc from hot escort to druggy walking Aurora - not because it had to happen but because it did happen.Swaye said:

We just got crushed in the Apple Cup.
Sure, we'd like Stoops and we'd like Riley and heck, we'd like Saban - it ain't happening. And certainly not until someone who is a winner is able to rebuild the program.
Considering who we've hired ever since James, I like the hire. -
Not sure what I missed. I think you guys got a very good coach, but it's hard to give him a full evaluation with such limited time as head coach at FS. The COVID season isn't worth evaluation given the restrictions.1to392831weretaken said:I just read through this thread, and I can't believe nobody asked for clarification: I'm thinking @FSDogs1 and @sonics1993 were mistakenly debating different guysm, with minions rallying on both sides. @FSDogs1 was talking about Fresno's OC, right? Meanwhile, @sonics1993 was responding as if it were about DeBoner.
In other news, looks like Fudgie's desperate to join the cool crowd again. I'll have to dust off this ol' gem and make another column a little shorter (due to the obvious pressing) and to the left of @MikeDamone for @backthepack:
OC Ryan Grubb is a good coach, but lacks OC experience and has been criticized for his playcalling. Fans feel content with him moving on. DC William Inge has also been a good overall and I think he will be missed.
DeBoer is a calculated gamble with a lot of upside. I think he will do well. -
Last thing I'll say. Per a reliable source, some questioned DeBoer's long-term commitment to the program. This could be sour grapes...hard to say.FSDogs1 said:

However our little school has been known to grow on coaches and will pay for performance. Two coaches have left here for another school - Darrell Royal and Sark
Sark didn't even play UW for a raise. He went to USC because he wanted too -
