I think the narrative has became so strong that he actually now believes he took over a downtrodden program that was 0-12 talent and built them up to a ranked team. I think he actually believes it was Washington who was holding him back and not the other way around.
I'm sure Sark actually believes his tenure at Washington was a success which is why he doesn't feel the need to change anything. Just like Kim/Doogs felt his tenure was a success why they were more than comfortable in wanting Nuss to be the next head coach in fact those who covet access preferred him.
If Sark was serious about change he would have never brought Nansen along let along promote him. Dude Brah is going to crash and burn down in L.A.
