a Covid relief bill where reportedly only 9% goes to relief

There’s a bunch of money going to things like childcare, rent assistance, re opening schools, unemployment insurance that’s not being counted as “relief”. Most dems are still liberals who bow to their corporate masters but the bill is not bad.

A huge chunk of the schools money is for 2022 and later. How is that being used to reopen the schools?

    Dig deeper.
And this is why it’s obviously just a game to you guys. I demonstrate that the 9% number is bullshit, that way more is going to help people and there’s no acknowledgement at all. Just on to the next talking point.
Opening up the economy is the best cure to all of these issues that is addressed by the spending. It’s a game and a crime to hold the citizens hostage with spending that has nothing to do with opening up.

Still no answer as to why we can’t just do a bill that cuts checks and nothing else.
Exactly, open up the economy and let people go back to work. The government paying people not to work is a fucking disaster.
Depends on what their true goals are. The "party of the people" has always taken the view that dependent voters are well worth spending other peoples money on.

One of my kid's is making more on unemployment right now than going back to work full time. It's fucking insane.

Getting a lot of manual labor out of him in exchange for free interweb service and food - but, christ, that's just fucking stupid fiscal policy and I'd really like him to GTFO of our basement.

Yeah if you're completely irresponsible fiscally the bill is great. Why shouldn't taxpayers bailout public employee union pensions funds?
Also bailing out the blue states like Washington who got swindles for a gazzillion by and African Prince scam. Cali who did similar stupid shit including a billion on a bogus mask buy etc. etc. etc. Should be labeled blue stupid state relief bill.

I'm still for the 15 and hour. Should be 20. But they throw the fucking pork in and it pisses me off

It should be $18 an hour in shitholes like SF, Seattle, and NY.

It should be $11 in most flyover places like hell Paso and SEC territory

just start minimum wages at $75K per year - pay everyone that, lower anyone above that amount down to $75K. Housing 4 people per house that way we don't have to worry about households spreading the Vid.

Oh yeah - a chicken in every pot

Of course my other problem is that most people who do low level office work don't know how to use a computer.

Same thing with my oldest son. I've been telling him that he needs to get a part-time job, he is down in San Diego going to college, I want him to share in some of his school and housing costs, I'm not raising him to be a Democrat, but he is currently making more money on unemployment than he would if he had a job. He and his buddies are all getting checks from the government.

Sure would be nice if our "centrist" friend wasn't such a Kunt that he could tell us why private sector employees who have no pensions should be subsidizing government employees with retirement and healthcare benefits far greater than most private sector employees.

The big issue with the bill is when spending is fkr if it is after 2021, there is zero reason for it to be in the covid bill period

Struggling taxpayers who get ZERO out of this bill if they made more than $75,000 in 2019 yet they get to pay for public pensions of government workers who haven’t missed on fucking paycheck in a year. It’s a joke and the Leftists here defending it are so economically illiterate it’s actually concerning.

The lie that still gets repeated by Rats is that public employees make less money than private sector employees so they need a pension system as opposed to a 401K. While that may have been true 30 years ago it's no longer true and there are plenty of government jobs that pay more than the equivalent private sector job.

There are veteran kindergarten teachers in Portland Public Schools who make over $100,000 a year, and they get teaching aides to help. Tell me why they can’t fund their own retirements? The average salary in PPS is $65,000 plus full benefits. Why do I have to pay for their retirement? Further, why do I have to pay for bankrupt pensions in New York and California? This is outright theft by the Democrats and their media gaslights some aspects and outright ignores other parts of the criminal enterprise in DC right now.

a Covid relief bill where reportedly only 9% goes to relief

You seem surprised. I’m proud of Biden to even make it close to double digits. When his dumb ass tried to pass a minimum wage law into a relief bill, I knew this thing was full of crap.

Hey Kobe, explain how a minimum wage law applied to Covid relief.
I can’t think of how a wage increase, to essential front line workers, applies to Covid relief.

    Totally stumped.
So a permanent minimum wage increase is relief? Good try though

It costs $2,500 or something outrageous for a 450 square foot apartment in San Fransicko. Should the minimum wage be $7.25 there?

San Francisco can implement their own minimum wage. Oh wait, they did!

Now let’s see how a federally mandated $15 an hour works in Two Dot, Montana.

    https://sfgov.org/olse/minimum-wage-ordinance-mwo

Employees that perform work in San Francisco, including part-time and temporary employees, must be paid no less than the San Francisco minimum wage, currently $16.07 per hour.

    That’s why there’s low income.

California can continue to set a higher standard like some 40 other states already do. The federal government should have nothing to do with it. $15 minimum wage is a state issue not a federal issue.

The minimum wage should be zero. Labor supply and demand sets the real wage.

I don’t agree with that but it should be a local and state issue and not a federal issue to decide on it.

By the way, my local 7-11 has a sign up asking for workers starting at $16/hr plus benefits after a month. Again, it’s a market thing, and not federally mandated.
