My only bad Kearse memory is playing Lakes in the 07-08 state tourney at Key Arena. We upset Mercer in first round then faced Jermaine and Middleton (also had a good PG) and they just manhandled us start to finish. Kearse had ~20 with 3 or 4 hard dunks without breaking a sweat. Very respectful on the court even tho he coulda trash talked us as much as he wanted... Kavario sure did lol. After the game I told him I'd be rooting for him at UW and he he said "appreciate that bro" and slapped five. Truly a classy dude.
I knew Kavario a little bit. He was nice to me, but was a somewhat typical jock punk. Chris Izbicki and his brother were great guys.

Chinteresting. I would’ve figured Izbicki to be a bit of a douche.
I don’t think I ever realized it was Butler who gave up that circus catch... and then instead of letting Kearse score on the ricochet, which with the ball at the 4 with a minute to play and 2 timeouts would have been the optimal decision (get the ball for your GOAT QB with time and timeouts needing a FG), Butler recovered and knocked him out of bounds.
Playing the long game to set up the Hawks and secure his place in NFL history.
