I may be wrong, but the black folks I know have never really embraced anything having to do with the LGBTQ movement. In fact, there’s been some documented backlash there, as some leaders in the AA community wonder why that has been such an important cause, from a legislative standpoint, while they feel as though they continue to be marginalized in congress. Doesn’t surprise me at all that she said that.
