I drank with Nick Holt’s brother in law a couple of times. He saw my Husky coat and asked about UW and told me he was Holt’s brother in law. This was back in 2009-10 ish when Sark still had some sizzle and we didn’t hate everyone yet.
I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but he told me Sark would have great parties after wins and that Holt’s brother in law thought he would hate him, but said he was a great, fun guy. Didn’t think anything of it at the time. It’s kind of interesting now that we know how much Sark enjoyed partying.
Looking into him, he seems like a really good hire. Just looked him up and he went 67-3 at NAIA school Sioux Falls.
He has had mostly good offenses everywhere he has been as well. He was the OC for Eastern Michigan and their offense improved each year under him. Went from horrible to pretty average.
Fresno State improved under his watch as OC and fell off without him.
Indiana had a much improved offense with him this year.
This was the guy we should have hired instead of Bush in 2018. He’s gotten results as an OC. Everywhere he has gone his offenses have gotten better and 67-3 is an amazing record at any level. If he wasn’t hired as Fresno State’s coach, I would be excited about him if he was a candidate for the OC job at UW.
Fuck him for the @asu game to this day. Sideline infractions and blown coverages. And sark overpaid him so well.
The maddest I have ever been at a UW DC was during the Nebraska and Stanford games in 2011. They ran power at us all day, everyone knew it was coming, and they gained at least 5 every play. It was pathetic. Holt mostly sucks. He’s had mild success at times, but he’s a low ceiling coach that should not be a DC. It’s amazing these types of coaches continue to get hired.

The gene pool is shallow
Kind of wish I had gone into coaching
Like any business, unless you’re exceptional, it’s basically who you know that matters. If you know one of those exceptional coaches or even a guy that you started with becomes a head coach, it’s a good gig. If you begin your career coaching for losers, it’s hard to get any traction.

Not sure how much bigger of a red flag there is if you are a Texas fan.
