I'd be seriously intrigued by him if he wasn't anti-2A. From his website:
GOALS
Create a common sense licensing policy, requiring investment and safety precautions
Prevent dangerous individuals from owning guns
Ban the manufacture, sale, and transfer of weapons and accessories that make it easier for individuals to commit mass shootings
Enhance mental health resources available to people who need help
Provide deescalation training and mental health professionals to law enforcement agencies to prevent interactions from becoming deadly
So yeah, I liked him until that trash. -

His primary economic vision will help lift up all Americans, which I firmly believe will reduce the occurrence of mass shootings. It’s the economic distress faced by entire sectors and communities that is leading to the degradation of society, feelings of hopelessness, and acts of criminality. He’s not coming for our guns. -
Who wouldn’t like somebody that wants to steal from the poor to pay the middle class?
-
Yang is a bit of a visionary - he's right on the money with regards to the shifting of the American economy from one of muscles to one of brains. Millions are going to be out of work in the next 15 years due to advances in robotics, driverless vehicles and AI.ThomasFremont said:Swaye said:I'd be seriously intrigued by him if he wasn't anti-2A. Unfortunately, that warning doesn't fit with the Identify Politics playbook. The Central Party will do what they can to ignore it.
The Throbber doesn't like UBI at all. Period. There has to be a quid pro quo. You want your $1000 per month? Serve at a soup kitchen 10 hours per month. Pick up litter in a national/state park for 2 days each month. Whatever. Just do something of value besides refreshing the browser to see whether the $1K direct deposit hit. Anything. But free shit for nothing is part of what got us? here in the first place.

It's the lack of parenting which leads to so many things bad that is the root of this problem. Of course some are encouraged not to have a father to get a bigger chunk of gooberment cheese............ThomasFremont said:Swaye said:I'd be seriously intrigued by him if he wasn't anti-2A. In order to get UBI, you have to opt out of the other programs that are inefficient are full of bureaucratic bloat. Any small government type should LOVE it.Sledog said:

Unfortunately leftards lie and love to be lied to. UBI will be supplemental not a replacement. Just will make the US more of a world welfare magnet.
-
This is one of my biggest issues with the whole “free college” or UBI plans...nothing is free, someone always picks up the check. Who pays or how much is always up for debate, but there’s something psychologically powerful about chipping in even a small amount of money (or time in the case of volunteering)...I feel it gives people a sense of ownership which in turn leads to a greater sense of responsibility.PurpleThrobber said:

Again, don't necessarily have a massive problem for the $1000 subsidy per month. But it comes with a performance clause.WestlinnDuck said:Unfortunately leftards lie and love to be lied to. UBI will be supplemental not a replacement. Just will make the US more of a world welfare magnet.
Sitting around doing jack shit and then getting rewarded isn't good for 6 year olds, for teenagers, for the elderly. Get the fuck up and do something.
-
True...my only concern about this though is at some point you have to do a cost-benefit analysis to see if it’s worth it to set up a system to assign people work *and* that they’re following through. When I was once unemployed I had to log onto a website and report the number of job applications I filled out, etc. to get my unemployment check. I’m sure agency that oversaw everything was no cheap and that there were still people that gamed the system.PurpleThrobber said:

Unfortunately, it’s difficult to quantify the effect *not* setting up an accountability system would have until you’re so far down the economic/social rabbit hole that it’s too late. -
All of it needs to be reined in. UBI is BS. Socialist drivel.ThomasFremont said:

How about you take a 10 dollar an hour minimum wage job and work 100 hours a week. Little more than half time.

Hey, as stated I actually like his radical approaches to a number of things. When Little Jimmy @jecornel first started hyping him I figured he was a typical liberal shithead, but he isn't. He is a disruptor 180 out from Trump, and I love me some disruptors. He is compelling to me, but I have admitted many times I am the worst kind of voter (single issue) and once he said licensing of firearms I checked out on him.ThomasFremont said:Swaye said:I'd be seriously intrigued by him if he wasn't anti-2A. I am old enough to remember Democrats who got A+ ratings from the NRA and were hardcore gun rights supporters. Those days have been gone for almost 2 decades now. You simply cannot run in the modern Democratic Party without buying the anti gun religion they spew. It's a shame. I am quite conservative on many issues, but I think the GOP is a just slightly less retarded version of the DNC. I value people who want to break molds and be visionary. Even if they are liberals. Just wish they didn't always have to tie themselves to planks that limit my rights.
p.s. Really like the fact that I haven't heard a bunch of social justice warrior bullshit from him. Maybe he has said it, but I haven't read it. AOC lost me immediately with all the SJW horseshit, and then she opened her mouth and I realized she is dumb as a brick. Yang is a smart fucker. I like that. -

I’m not exaggerating when I say that if this issue (AI/automation) is not tackled head on with intelligent solutions, we are facing an industrial revolution on steroids. Riots, looting, etc. The uneducated old white trucker that won’t have a job in 5 years is fucked. And he’s armed. They will not go silently. Check the history of job displacement for large sectors and communities. It leads to blight.
The retail clerk, call center, and fast food workers are all fucked. GDP and corporate profits care nothing for them if machines can do their work for less.
The Econ 101 idea that these folks all retrain and re-enter the workforce doesn’t account for a world where the workforce is dramatically reduced and specialized.
Yang is the only candidate talking about this. Probably because he’s not a politician and actually understands technology and business.
I’d recommend letting go of the left vs right gridlock and think about actual solutions. His proposals are not that wild. And they’re based on actual data, not electability polls and party platforms. -
Fuck man, the guy that shot up west Texas was a trucker that just lost his job. He won’t be the last. Tens of thousands of them are ex-military too.

Most mass shooter are liberals. HTH

That’s an irrelevant (and I suspect inaccurate) observation. Sad to see you’re still playing the left vs right identity politics game. But then, you always were a brain dead remora.Sledog said:Most mass shooter are liberals. HTH

Yes Rep. Tenney said something to this tune. It has no factual merit. A politician being dishonest who would of thunk it?ThomasFremont said:
