I told you the guy is trying (that's the operative word) to build a program based on commitment to the running game and physicality. Not as obvious as his recruiting success, but it is starting to show ... inconsistently, but it's there to see.
I thought I saw a semblance of a disciplined program after a year of drastic improvement in the areas of penalty and discipline. So far, that seems to be holding.
The guy walked into about as shitty a situation as you can get and has improved Oregon almost across the board. Nobody should have wanted to sign with them when he took over and he has managed to get kids to come play for him. They certainly looked like shit on the road a few times last year, but overall they were a better team than the year before.
He may have reached his ceiling. I really don't know. My only point has been that neither does doog nation.
If I were Oregon, I wouldn't be thinking to fire him just now. -
Cristobal might succeed, but he needs to hire better henchmen. I wouldn't fire him yet. Depends on the rest of the season and what he does about Arroyo.

Dude. By all accounts Shough (or however you spell it) is a strong successor. I get the frustrations with Herbert but you're a little over the top with it. He's not the most mentally strong guy I've seen play, but the guy can and does make all the throws. He's a little slow and tentative and times, but then again, he's looking at what Eason is looking at: midgets and a tight end. Herbert deals with that by being too careful and indecisive; Eason deals with it by just ripping the shit out of the ball and hoping it works out. His impotent offense is the weak link. I've seen nothing from Shough that indicates whether is he is good or a dud. But the fact that Herbert remains the starting QB isn't a good sign. Other teams have the @ballz to replace their starting QBs when they are underperforming.

The biggest issue is our lack of a running game. That has a lot to do with the backs not having the build to be successful in a pistol set. The pistol is most effective with strong north/south backs. It's hard to judge Cristobal's skills or lack thereof when he continues to employ an asshat as OC. I wanted another conference title and a new years 6 bull which after 6 seasons it's clear everything has to fall 100% perfectly for this staff to even be in the realm of upsetting an Iowa/Mich State type of team for that.

As to coordinators ... jury is out on Arroyo, but it's pretty clear he made a good hire in Avalos.
