    Unfortunately for your argument there isn't any 4th amendment issue here. It is merely leftards on the SC disagreeing on a policy basis about the question. It was legal for more than a century and then it's not. The Constitution authorizes a census. It is a clear Constitutional mandate. Unlike abortion or gay marriage. Given the mandate, asking about citizenship is clearly within the mandate. You don't need emanations or penumbras to get there. To not get there you need to be dishonest.     California has 53 congressional districts with more coming following the 2020 census. If you want know how many illegals there are, California has been counting them for decades. The truth is right in from of you. Unless you are a trumptard it appears.

    The citizenship question in front of scotus was an easy lay up winner for any administration that wanted to ask, except for the policy and legal team of trump, Cletus, race, GayBob and Jethro.

    Somebody find the law that says "The Census shall ask a question of citizenship" on the form. You must cite the law and that it was signed by a president.

    You can't do that. What you will find is only something to the effect that "Congress does hereby authorize the Census bureau to promulgate regulations... blah blah blah" .... there is never an explicit lawfully stated authorization.

    Now just because that funny little billionaire man says to put a citizenship question on the ballot does not mean it ever passed Congress and it certainly as we know is not in the Constitution.
    Some bureaucrats thought it up and did it. That does NOT mean that it is Constitutional although I concede it might be "legal" but again, Congress never passed such a law. That's what led to the Supreme Court and the decision.
