Since the recruiting coverage for basketball isn't that great, I decided to write up a little thing about who we're recruiting. the 2019 cycle is at its end, so there is no discussion of that... We all know the one target left in that class..
2020 Taking 4 unless J'Raan Brooks or someone else transfers in. Will get Marjon Beauchamp SG/SF 6’6” Rainier Beach Posted some cryptic shit on twitters about not having a favorite and his recruitment being open. That being said, UW is the heavy favorite and everyone knows it. Great handles and a good shooter. Crazy length
Isaiah Cottrell PF 6’9” Bishop Gorman Assistant Coach Dave Rice’s brother coaches BG, Rice has the Vegas connections from his time at UNLV, I think we get whoever we want from BG while he’s an assistant here. Solid post player that will continue to improve, 4 year guy.
Hopefully get Daishen Nix 6’5” PG Trinity International Schools (Vegas) Originally from Alaska of all places, best PG on the West Coast. Amazing passer and an improving shooter. Said UW is recruiting him the hardest.
Kendall Munson 6’8” PF/SF Rainier Beach Offered after the state tourney while playing for Puyallup, would have had him listed as a backup until Strawther committed to the Zags. Isn’t really ranked since he was out hurt his sophomore year. He should see a huge jump in the rankings after AAU season.
Backups Lamont Butler 6’2” PG Polytechnic (Riverside) Hop has been recruiting him for a while, had an official visit, but they seem to be slow playing him. Great ball handler and passer, but he’s not as good as Nix overall. Would be awesome as a 4 year guy. He’ll come here if Nix doesn’t.
Noah Taitz 6’3” SG Bishop Gorman BTP hates him, so he’ll probably hit a game winning shot against us someday.
Mitchell Saxen 6’10” C Ingraham Center that stretches the floor, rebounds decent, and blocks some shots. Random Hopkins follow on Twitter
Cade Cunningham 6’6” SF Montverde Academy 8th ranked player in the class, no clue if he has an offer or anything.
2021 Will Get Paolo Banchero 6’10” PF O’Dea Both parents went to UW, family is close with Jen Cohen’s family, offered as a freshman. I believe that Hopkins has some kind of rule about accepting commitments early, I’d say he’s unofficially committed.
Shane Nowell 6’5” SG Eastside Catholic Plays a lot like Jaylen but he’s a lefty and slightly taller. He was at pretty much every home game, and have heard that the staff is recruiting him HARD.
Others Anyone other than the previous two will depend on how the numbers work out. As of now it looks like we’ll need to take 3, but that could easily end up being 4. I wont bother too much with details about each of them. Offers to all the Bishop Gorman guys in this class..

Agree with all this except Cunningham. I think *he* thinks we have a shot with him which is why others do but I don't think he really has a choice where he is going to go.

I was already building a really good relationship before I got to Team USA and I didn’t even know that he was going to be an assistant until a couple of days before I got there. He didn’t really say anything to me recruiting-wise the whole trip. He wanted it to be strictly USA Basketball, and I really respected that so much, but I really respect him as a coach and I realized why Washington is on the rise.

That is a fast league, a scoring league, a lot like the NBA, and I can work on my game to get to the NBA to be an all-star one day."

If he played in college or overseas i could see him getting drafted, he would play well in either and the exposure would only be a benefit. Being hidden away from competition for a year isnt going to help. It worked for Mitchell Robinson under totally different circumstances i suppose, but he went in the 2nd rd at 7'1".. realistically, he probably should have been a lottery pick.

Is Sorn getting on scholarship for sure going to happen? Also if we miss out on Cunningham are there fall back options? Or do they not want to tie in another scholarship given how the 2021 in state class is looking?

When he signed there was talk of him getting a scholarship after his 2nd season assuming he was still on the team. That would leave 2 spots with another 3 opening for 2021. I'm not aware of anyone else that we're recruiting for 2020. Though, if we get Cunningham somehow, I think there's a possibility that Paolo could change his mind about reclassifying...
Evan Daniels crystalballed Cunningham to Kentucky. He waits till it’s pretty set in stone to dip his balls in the crystal. Bad as it is for Udub, at least we’re not Okie Lite
