Because the United States government engaged in decades of propaganda against communism. I’d say that’s the single biggest reason. That’s why you see Boomers and Gen Xers just calling random shit they don’t like communism. I would say the main reason is because it aims to take power from the powerful. So you have situations where people can seize that power for themselves or where the already powerful can stomp it out to protect their power.

Here's what I think:
1. There is an interesting academic discussion to be had about Marxism. A small amount of what you have said would be relevant in that discussion.
2. The most charitable read of communism is that it's a concept well before its time. That is, there may be a day when technology and human-knowledge is such that we have essentially eradicated scarcity w/o the need for market forces, are able to allocate resources perfectly, again w/o market forces, and basic human culture has evolved to a degree such that some of the basic individual motivators for innovation and value creation are not longer important and thus no longer ... given effect. My read of Marxist theory is more along those lines. If it ever happens, we probably won't really connect it back to Marx and it will be so long from now that it's really just good academic discourse ... exercise for the mind.

4. As a practical matter, it's a waste of time to defend because it has failed so miserably.

Hey guess what, in the history of the world there have been shitty things that happened, so that means capitalism is bad and we need to replace it with something worse that has failed everywhere!
