The problem with this is the emphasis of the chalkboard. If it’s close, sure, go with the guy that knows the offense better. When it’s Puka’s talent vs Baccallia’s, you have to make some concessions.
I read Pete’s press conference and some of the quotes are a little misleading.
He talked about Osborne and said he’s going to be good. I think there is a fine line to overthinking things. Some guys overthink things and it slows them down because they haven’t mastered the offense. That’s slowing Osborne down. I doubt Puka really gives a shit and is going to ball no matter if he knows it well or not.
It kind of goes back to just keeping it relatively simple and letting guys be comfortable. I don’t think we do a good job with that because of all the emphasis on practice and chalk talk. Then you factor in guys not playing and it’s a lot easier to check out and not improve when they aren’t getting game reps.
It’s still inexcusable that Baccallia got so many snaps. It’s hurting the team now and it hurts the future of the team. Cutting those in half and letting other guys play would she been a good thing.
Colorado gave up 30 points to every team they’ve faced until UW.
Arizona and Colorado were the two worst defenses in the conference in PPG Allowed, and only gave up 3 points combined to UW in the first halves.
That dipshit announcing team couldn’t get half the calls right, yet could tell that Colorado was run blitzing on every 1st and 2nd down because UW telegraphs all their tendencies, then Colorado would overload one side for blitzes on 3rd down and UW didn’t know how to handle any of it.
Peterson hardly ever faced any good defenses in the Mountain West. His teams routinely averaged over 30 points a game, except for two or three games in his 8 years at the helm of BSU that were low scoring losses. Better Pac12 athletes, especially in the secondary, have cut the nuts off his offensive playbook and he hasn't yet responded or grown another set.
Listened to the first five minutes of the press conference and it's the exact same bullshit... "we just need to execute better", "it's hard", "there's so much parity in this conference", "I thought we played well on defense", "I thought we practiced really well, so I don't understand why we couldn't execute on saturday."
I honestly don't even think it matters what changes Pete makes or doesn't make to his staff. This guy is so myopically focussed on his process and system that not only is he too rigid to change and adjust, he can't even figure out what needs to be changed and adjusted.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!
In his last two games Ulofoshio has 20 tackles (14 solo).
Meanwhile, Wellington and Manu have 45 tackles each in 11 games.
WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK!
Colorado was giving up 160 yards rushing per game.
UW got 61 yards on 27 carries, when ignoring sacks.
FUCK YOU YOU STUPID FUCKING COACHES!
UW is averaging 25.4 PPG in conference.
Removing the 51 point Arizona game, UW is averaging 21.7 PPG in conference.
