Heard that Bush was on with Softy yesterday so I looked it up and gave it a listen. Some things that I thought were worth noting:
- The offense last year was not explosive enough and did not score enough points. There were times where he wanted to push more but held back because he knew there was a great defense on the other side of the field and wanted to support them. I may be wrong, but my read on this was that he wanted to open the playbook and go for more, but he felt limited with his personnel and didn't want to fuck it up and put the defense in a bad spot.
- Tried to be coy when talking about Eason. It's going to be a battle this spring for the starting spot and he still has a lot to prove. But when asked about Eason being the greatest physical talent Bush has seen at the position, he said that in shorts and tshirts Eason is a top 1 or 2 pick. Assuming this will help in regards to the first point this year.
- When asked about Ahmed taking the same carries that Gaskin had last year, he danced around the question. He said Salvon is an elite athlete that they need to work on getting him into space, and he talked about the damage he can cause when "no one is around him". Not a ringing endorsement on his abilities between the tackles. I expect Cam Davis to play a big part in the RB rotation next year.
- Could be just coach speak, but he mentioned that the WR room will be the biggest position battle this spring and fall. He recognized that Lowe, Spiker, and Ozzy have some talent that the older guys don't really have, but said there is more to being a starting WR than just having the physical tools. Hoping he gives the young kids a legitimate chance to win some spots.
- Eason and Haener split reps with the first team. - Ahmed and McGrew split reps with the first team. - Starting OL: LT Trey Adams, LG Luke Wattenberg, CENTER Nick Harris, RG Jaxson Kirkland, TR Jared Hilbers. - Fuller was out with injury, so first team WR: Jones, Baccellia and Bynum. - TE first team: Bryant and Otton
- Potoa’e, Levi, and Tuli got first team reps with the DL - First team LB were Wellington and Manu, EDGE first team were Tryon and Bowman. - First team CB were Molden and Taylor, Bryant at Nickel, and Safeties were a group of rotating guys.
- Eason was a bit rusty, and overthrew Chincredible, which was likely due to all WR automatically slowing up looking for an under thrown ball. - Second team OL was Mele at LT, Ale at LG, Norgaard at C, Roberts RG, Bain at RT. - McKinney had one starting safety spot, and Gilchrist/Irvin rotated at the other. - Second team DB's were Gordon and Hampton at CB, Cam Williams and Cook at Safety. - Second team LB had Ngata inside, and Ulofoshio outside. Tafisi and Sirmon were always paired together inside between second and third team.
Really like the young depth we're? building at ILB with Calvert, Hammer, Sirmon, and Ta-fece (lulz).... butt fuck, Manu and Wellington as the starters combined with the likely sale of Beaver's couch makes for a real shit sandwich at that position.

I’m curious how long they give Manu the reps there out of respect. He’s up to 250 now and he sucks so that just doesn’t work.
What the fuck is Jimmy doing at Safety? I expected Molden to move over to free safety because he doesn't have ideal corner length but he does have probably the highest football IQ in the secondary, 4.4 sideline to sideline speed, ball skills, instincts, good tackling ability, and probably wouldn't be a huge drop off from Rapp.
But no, instead Molden is still at corner and he starts Spring ball off with Gilchrist running with the ones who's A HUGE FUCKING DROP OFF from Tayler Rapp and the only guy he moved to safety so far is Julius Irvin who's coming off a redshirt and has barely played. On top of that, McKinney is iffy in pass coverage and looked lost against Ohio State. Dude, WTF? I'm really nervous about both safety positions. I could see them getting taken advantage of and giving up big plays over the top this season. Fuck.

I think Jimmy knows what he is doing, crazy thought I know.
Fuck that If I played QB at UW I’d look exactly like Jake Haener Jesus Christ. Why the fuck did they feature that little bug eyed fucker in the video and not Skinny?

Coaching doesn't matter if the talent, depth, and/or experience you have at that position sucks. Budda and Sidney got torched as true Freshman. Did Lake not know what he was doing then and yet we still sucked. It's a similar situation at safety right now. I have a strong feeling Gilchrist sucks ass. We are fucked at free safety if it's either Gilchrist or a Freshman starting for us. Obviously Lake fucked up somewhere recruiting that position because we don't have a RS Junior, sure fire, future NFL stud to replace Rapp that nobody is worried about.
