@HuskyClaws can we get an update whenever the Yankoff situation (lulz) is settled?
TIA
Just saw this. Feel free to pick apart the chart in case I missed someone.
Sweet jesus look at all those blue chips.
In all seriousness, look at the freshmen. It's weird because of the redshirt thing, but still.
41 freshmen. 27 blue chips.
Of those non blue chips, we have: Dick Newt (turns out he maybe doesn't suck I guess) Taj Davis (Physical talent who will probably develop like a 4*) Culp (see above, fringe BC by some rankings) Curne (massive human) Ale (jesus fuck seriously) Liu (actually looks fucking good) Ngalu (GREG GAINES 2.0 IS OUR LOWEST RATED RECRUIT IN OUR DT ROOM) ZTF (dude is a fucking beast) Trice (He's pretty good, not amazing) Tafisi (fuck yeah) Ah You (injury fucks him, but could be real good) Tuputala (seriously? This dude is a fucking stud) Tim Horn (because we are saving the best for last. He is a kicker who is buff as fuck. Dope.) DOM MOTHERFUCKING HAMPTON (HOW was he not a blue chip? Jesus fuck)
By my count, at least 4 or 5 of those guys should have been blue chips rather easily.
And the rest are for the most part still really fucking good, and they're the lowest rated ones.

Lake has one job now: prove he can win. Pete set the foundation, the culture, and winning ways, but did so with primarily 3* players. The last 3 classes have had double digit Blue Chips and have all been in 14th, 11th, and 13th in the country. That’s 37 Blue Chip players in 3 years. The talent is in the depth chart now. No excuses.
Based on composite, this is the best class UW has had since Pete got here. Based on 247, the last 2 were better. Point stands: despite the lack of pub, UW has been recruiting the talent it needs to win. Time to fucking put up.
Lake held together a class on the backend of a shit season where Pete literally gave up and walked away. Incredible job not losing a single recruit. Not so incredible that he couldn’t close any targets in the 2nd signing period.
That said, since he’s taken over, the energy put into recruiting has been readily apparent. The coaches are active on social media, the UW twitter account is pumping out hype videos, he created a position for Director of Recruiting and put a Dawg who bleeds P&G in it, and he’s taking private jets to recruits homes to make show he’s willing to put the resources into recruiting that is necessary to win.
And that all leads to this. The fact that 2021 is the best home grown talent that Washington has seen in a long fucking time.
JTT, Sam, and Egbuka all in the top 10 nationally. Simon, Tinae, Prentice, and Latu all in the top 300.
7 Blue Chip players in your backyard. That could be more than a 3rd of the class in driving distance. That shit doesn’t happen often around here. It should lead to a monumental class.

Lake just needs to do it now.
LIPO. JTT, Sam, and Egbuka are all legitimately 5 star players. I like Prentice as a solid recruit. Not as sure on the others. I’m doubtful Latu even and a commutable offer. I have a hard time getting really excited about Simon or the Kennedy WR’s as well, although chemistry matters so those guys might be better than I believe they are.
Basically, the three 5 star guys are crucial and JTT and especially Huard will bring guys with them because very good to elite players like playing with elite players.
