I'd be shocked if he was the ad before it ran or had any input.HillsboroDuck said:
Given the context of this administration and Trump' proven willingness to fan racial tensions and prey on white fears of browns and blacks, not really.SFGbob said:
Is there any possibility that your interpretation of the Ad is wrong and therefore possibly not racist?HillsboroDuck said:Ummmm, because it uses footage of an illegal immigrant from Mexico who committed atrocities to suggest that those who are trying to come here from Honduras are coming here to do the same thing, when the main thing they have in common is the color of their skin? He's not Honduran, he didn't come in a Caravan, but his actions predict theirs because skin color.
It's the clear implication of the ad.
I agree completely with your second paragraph but that doesn't mean they are never right in their claims. They're right about this one, it's pretty obvious.
The migrant caravan is a huge boon for the GOP heading into the election and Trump is smart to take advantage of that. It could have been done a lot more subtly though.
I don't think Trump's a racist so much as a pragmatist. I do think he knows he's appealing to racists and does it chintentionally. -
I didn't say that.SFGbob said:
You think people who oppose illegal immigration are racists? There's a lot of supposition in your claim but you have a right to that opinion but if you watch CNN or MSNBC they aren't reporting on this as if the Ad is racist in their opinion, they are stating flat-out that it's a racist Ad. The Ad never mentions race.HillsboroDuck said:

This is roughly how I see it, with apologies to @TheChart and @Dardanus.
The overlapped section is the most passionate, vocal and easily manipulated. Trump knows when appealing to them they'll do what needs to be done to fire up the non racist portion of the diagram.
Trump might be dumb but he ain't stupid. -
You're fucking stupid.SFGbob said:If you listen to CNN or MSNBC you'd think that Trump had just re-made Birth of a Nation. Passion came here yesterday and claimed the Ad was racist but then ran away when asked to explain why.
Liberals believe that if they just use their magic words the immediately "win" the argument. Neo-Con, Koch brothers, Haliburton, homophobe and racist.
So tell us, why is this Ad racist?

No input probably but I bet he BRB, YO'd to it at least once before he poasted it.GrundleStiltzkin said:

Trump strikes me as a micromanager. I don't think he's giving his team a ton of carte blanche. -
I do think he knows he's appealing to racists and does it chintentionally.
Why wouldn't just simply opposing illegal immigration appeal to these racists? Why would you need a "racist" Ad? -

He put the video out for the racists to share with their anti illegal immigration, non/less racist frens.
There's definitely a brilliance to Trump. -
Trump isn't trying to win anybody's votes here, he's just trying to ensure the votes that are already in his corner show up at the poles. It's motivation, not debate.
This is why I said the caravan is a huge boon for the GOP. The timing is perfect. I seriously "lol" at all the idiots on my feed who think Soros is financing this thing. It's way more beneficial timing for the right than the left. -
But the Ad is getting massive play on CNN, are they racists?HillsboroDuck said:

But why would he need that Ad? Wouldn't opposing illegal immigration be enough of a motivation for these "racists?" Any idea what percentage of the people who oppose illegal immigration are racists?HillsboroDuck said:Trump isn't trying to win anybody's votes here, he's just trying to ensure the votes that are already in his corner show up at the poles. CNN's trying to use it to fire up their base as well.SFGbob said:
