Trump's Presidency Rests on the Immigration Issue

These 4 items are non negotiable:

--End chain migration.
--End the visa lottery program.
--Install a very strict merit based system: Only 5 star recruits need apply
--Build a wall

As long as these 4 concessions are won, his base will be perfectly happy to allow some, most or even all 800K of the 'dreamers' (illegals) to remain in the US.

You do realize most illegal immigrants entered the country legally and over stayed their visa. Right?

Overhaul the whole system first then plug the remaining leaks. Deploy more ICE agents to arrest and deport illegals caught overstaying their visas. Crack down on sanctuary cities and sanctuary states. Cut off the flow of federal funds. Prosecute leaders in these cities and states that flout immigration law.

But Trump just wants to throw $18 billion at a wall. Because..... The isn't issue border security. It's doing something that's dumb just because he wants to. There's a reason no other president or Congress has just built a wall. It's only purpose is symbolic to rile up the base.

The wall is important, but less important than the other 4 demands that his base expect to be met. Ending chain migration is probably the most important. Stop allowing immigrants to bring their uncles, aunts, cousins, grandmothers and every other fucker in their extended families over here with them. The Wall was never an issue because it defied plausibility that anyone was stupid enough to believe it was useful or credible at all. The trumpanzee circus of 2016 is dealing with a harsh dose of reality. DACAs are staying. Mexico isn’t paying anything towards trump’s shitshow. And while “border security” could be the linchpin to a FY18 funding deal (both sides saying they won) a Jan. 19 shutdown still looms large. (Kid and dog praying.gif)

When Hamas terrorists started bombing buses in Israel back in the early 2000's, Israel built a wall to keep them out. Did some of them still get through? Sure. Some bored tunnels like insects underground. Most of those tunnels have been located and destroyed. Bus bombings are no longer a daily occurrence there. Walls work. They aren't foolproof, but they certainly help.
