I don't want to lumped into Sledog's ideology, but seriously, it's at least frowned upon to talk politics, much less make big political statements, at almost every job I've ever had. Why is this vastly different? At press conferences, I can see doing it to an extent.
If you're an independent or semi-independent entertainer (singer, actor, comedian, talk show host etc.), sure fire away. If you want to invite Action News for to your presser, fine.
I don't disagree. I think the owners would have every right to step in and say "you're not doing this here".
They haven't though (at least not most of them). So as long as the protest is allowed by ownership all the "do it on your own time" comments are ignorant, at best.

The difference is the millions of dollars at stake. And the audience they have. (Meaning their stand can invoke change, not just blathering idiots). And every owner that's commented, including Trump's friend Robert Kraft, has said their employees can peacefully protest if they so choose.

The President whines on Twitter during working time.
The president meddles in private business because private business accepts a benefit from the federal government.
So you are saying you would support Trump telling Exxon it should fire employees that speak out against the government because Exxon receives subsidies from the government.
The players are free to poo poo the flag and the national anthem if they choose. And NFL owners and GMs are free to not sign them to a contract. NFL ratings are down and some of it is due to over exposure. But some of it is due to the protests as well. Trump put the NFL owners in a box as its clear that they won't publically condemn the protests other than maybe one or two of them. But it's also clear that if you're a marginal NFL player who continues to do this, there's a good chance you're out of a job should it benefit their teams cap and you may not catch on with another team the next Season. So if you're a marginal player who feels strong about the issue to continue this, hopefully you'll be able to survive on PE teacher salary.

Da fuq?
Are the NFL players speaking out against the federal government? If you are accepting a benefit/privilege from the government and engaging in inflammatory behavior, don't get you panties in a bunch if someone in the government gives their opinion of your behavior. Especially if it from a politician.

No they aren't and that's the point. Not to mention they aren't receiving the benefit. But continue being fucktarded.

The owners get the benefit, not the players.
The $59k median house-hold income and I had a hearty chuckle at your poast.
Kinda the more chinteresting thing outta this shitshow. Villanueva seems to be the only player having the slightest hint of team repercussions from his flag take. He's also the one most out of step with team unity since Kappy. Turns the thing on its head and back over again.

The players benefit indirectly and directly both from the tax structure and other income that contributes to paying player salaries. Trump is expressing his opinion, and you have a problem with that.
It takes a real desperate person to quote Harbaugh in here. And what does the Constitution have to do with privately owned and operated franchises?
Harbaugh: Check your brain.
Ask the president that exact question. Why does the president meddle in private business?
Honestly, Hondo, I don't know how you tie your shoes with that brain.
The Constitution applies to State Action, actions by the state, your government, the government, whatever level it's at, municipal, towns, cities, etc.
I know it's hard, but the "Seattle Seahawks" are not owned and operated by the City of Seattle. So it's not a First Amendment issue, as Harbaugh and yourself believe it is.

Da fuq? I never said anything about the Seahawks. Yes they are a private business, that's the point.
Are you also saying Trump is not bound by the Constitution now?

This shit is actually Obama's fault. His administration started this shit in 2009.
