Crazy change from a year ago...GET YOUR MIND RIGHT!!!
We still have Bandes, Ika, and Jernigan (wonder if we would accept a commitment from him now) on the board along with fliers on Tuitele and Pola-Mao.
Wonder if this means 1) Sama Paama may be brought in as an OG if we can get 2 of the above? 2) Bynum gets a chance at WTE if we bring in 3 DTs? 3) Would we bring in 4 Freshman OL this year (along with Luciano making it 5) if Paama moves over to OL? (Please God). Otherwise there is only 1 OL spot left if Paama is considered an OG. 4) If Paama is an OG does it limits the possibility of bringing in Elder or Utschinski this year (back to a greyshirt discussion on them)?
If for nothing else, I hope this pickup helps with the poly pipeline! Just get Heimuli up when Brandon Kaho is around!!! Keep adding the polys and hopefully the elite ones follow suit!
I really like Ngalu. Malloe and Socha have done such a great job developing this type of defensive tackle that taking an Ngalu or Mosiah-Liu every year makes a lot of sense. You can almost guarantee that Socha will work his magic and keep their athleticism while gaining 40 lbs.
Should I be concerned about what the fuck we are doing? I read about six amazing DL prospects we've gotten looks from, and then we take a commitment from a guy that on paper doesn't seem to be held in the same regard. Are we settling too early for "good enough" guys? Are we recruiting too many Poly guys? I'm not a geneticist, but I didn't think they were exactly known for their fast twitch muscle fibers, etc.

Shit, I was just about to accuse you of being a geneticist.

Tuitele isn't coming here. Getting both Bandes and Apu Ika is pretty unrealistic, we probably won't get either. And if for some reason they both want to commit we can make room, possibly moving Pama to offense.
And there are no black lineman on the west coast, Polys>white people
So, Coker loves Ngalu and DDY is completely indifferent. Should I be excited or not? I can’t even watch the tape since it won’t play overseas for some reason.

They are highlights, so take it with a grain of salt...
I really like Ngalu. He has a high motor, doesn’t quit on the play. Seems like he stays pretty disciplined when playing the 1-tech and holds the point of attack pretty well for a guy who is 6-2, 265 (or 280 depending on where you look). When he slides over to 3-tech, he’s more of a disruptor and like I said before, shoes a pretty good motor.
In comparison to Paama, Iku, and Bandes (I’m not even going to compare Tuitele because he will never go to UW...) I would rank them Iku, Ngalu, Bandes Paama.
All that being said Jake Browning fucking sucks...
I don't like it when Coker and Dennis disagree. Aside from the awkward sexual tension it creates, I have no idea what to think. So I don't like this.
He's fine. He's a decent prospect, I think Dennis just wants more than a par, or at least that's how I feel. Compared to last year's class, we're off to kind of an underwhelming start. I don't think any of our commits are bad, but we also don't have a single elite commit yet. Last year we had 8 or 9 in the final class. That should be the minimum expectation going forward.

Yeah, I agree with this as it stands now. Kind of a bunch of kids that are good/great but not elite. It will be chinteresting to see how some of these guys grow and play during their Sr. years. A guy like Ngalu could add 5-10 more pounds and just wreck fucking shop and then blow up.
Of the top 10 DT prospects listed on 247, 6 of them live in th South, so fucking forget them right away. Then you have Tulitele and Bandes, a kid from Ohio (probably Ohio State) and a kid from Texas. To get Paama and Ngalu in the boat early is a good thing in my opinion because inside the top 15 looks bleak (as Ika probably goes to USC...).
