If he grew up in Federal Way (like me), anywhere near the highway (Nautilus Elementary), he definitely grew up near some fucked up areas. Not sure exactly where he lived, but if it was anywhere except the "marine hills"/view neighborhoods, there were plenty of dirtbags running around causing trouble. And trying to drag you into trouble.
There's a sense of stress and collective oppression when you grow up broke in a shitty neighborhood. Everybody is always trying to find an edge or an angle and one-up each other. It's a lot harder to trust people when so many around you are trying to hustle constantly. The stress is the hardest part for a young kid to deal with. -
I'm pretty certain he did live in Federal Way, and has lived in Burien for at least since starting high school. His parents grew up in the CD and both attended GHS. Im not certain what part of the CD but his parents, as children and teens, definitely encountered some, or were super close to some bad shit, especially in the late 80s, early 90s.doogbiscuit said:If he grew up in Federal Way (like me), anywhere near the highway (Nautilus Elementary), he definitely grew up near some fucked up areas. Hard to trust? Oh ABSOLUTELY go play for a guy that quit on Oregon after one year instead of the coach voted most trustworthy or whatever by his peers.
Or maybe the guy who badmouths guys who leave early and tries to get a better job every year.

Putting out an article with the sole purpose of saying Fuck You to UW reads like an emotional overreaction to something. "Sounds like you care," in recruit form, basically. UW's definitely in a shitty spot right now, but it's not the worst spot. I'd rather be here than given a pity spot in a top 6 (s/o Cuog) when in reality the kid is apathetic and never seriously considering coming here.
It's like a girl saying she fucking hates you and never wants to talk to you ever again after a fight ... in reality you're going to beat again in a week or two once the dust settles. It sucks in the moment, but you jerk off in the interim and let her get over it. Compare that to going on a couple dates, it's okay but you never click, maybe get a courtesy kiss, but it's obviously not going anywhere.
You can flip an emotional reaction because there's something to work with; you're dead in the water once apathy sets in.
Yeah, but to play the race card Willie is black and "real is real" as was quoted previously by sa'vell himself.RealRhino said:Hard to trust? Oh ABSOLUTELY go play for a guy that quit on Oregon after one year instead of the coach voted most trustworthy or whatever by his peers.

For a 17 year old in sa'vell's shoes it's probably hard to think straight when Willie is in your ear because he looks like him, presents as being cut from the same cloth as him, represents a narrative that is familiar with him (that us colored folk need to stick together to succeed etc ...)
While the "other" guy from the home is some white dude who looks like the quintessential honky.
So, Pete needs to move away from this okg shit and sell the built for life and built for the NFL shit because:
- Willie and cristoballz cannot compete with it.
- they cannot claim the NFL draft picks record or pedigree
- they cannot claim the winning
- they cannot compete with the concept that built for life doesn't matter where you come from, what you look like, or how much money you come from. Success is success.
- if Pete is able to de-weaponize the anti-okg sentiment then he can compete from a position of strength which is development and eventually money, Fame and riches and bitches. -
100% agree. Drop the OKG shit. Sell built for life.animate said:CallMeBigErn said:

Built for Life is good but you also need to pound kids with the football data. No one in the west comes remotely close in terms of player development - NFL representation, all-conference players, etc. to what Pete has done since coming here. The parents/kids who aren't turned on by OKG should be turned on by thatBeerThirty said:

This is extremely true. Nobody is harder on the poor and disenfranchised than other poor and disenfranchised trying to get one over on each other. This is all hidden and ignored in the modern day class wars, and why they’ll go on forever.doogbiscuit said:If he grew up in Federal Way (like me), anywhere near the highway (Nautilus Elementary), he definitely grew up near some fucked up areas. In today's world perception is reality. That "OKG" crap needs to go, and the NFL pipeline needs to be emphasized. Normally conference championships mean something, and they still do, but only east of New Mexico. What has hurt Washington as well has been Oregon. Oregon was the first Pac 12 school outside of USC to recruit hard in the east coast and SEC country. That has pissed a lot of east coast schools off, so now they are recruiting harder on the west coast than they've ever done before. Washington can easily compete and in many cases beat Oregon and USC for California talent, but now they have to compete with Clemson, LSU, Alabama, etc. No west coast school can compete head to head with these schools in tradition (maybe USC, but that is fading), recent success (Sorry Washington, but you need to win something outside of the conference)
The west coast needs to grow a pair and win a game against these blue bloods. Washington/Auburn, Washington/Alabama, Washington/Ohio State, Oregon/Auburn, Oregon/LSU, Oregon/Ohio State, USC/Ohio State, USC/Alabama. These are some of the examples of a west coast school shitting the bed against a high profile OOC opponent. This is what's hurting recruiting much more than "OKG". -

This is a stupid take. East coast schools are pilfering west coast kids because recruiting in general has become more national and it's fucking easy to do when USC and UCLA continue to bend over and let it happen. -
