One guy beat the other guy every time they played along with six National Championships and fourteen conference championships in the tuff SEC

The other guy won half of a National Championship and six conference championships in the Pac-8/10 before football started.

Will you be comparing Pete Sampras to a guy that won his district in high school tennis?

I was at that game. Like DJ said it was disappointing but considering who we were playing not terribly so. I still remember the pass bounce of Spiders face mask. He had a solid five yards in the defender and would have been gone.

No salt. You just don't compare absolute legends to someone that was good regionally.

Ask a 20 year old college fan who Bear Bryant is and they will know it without thinking. Ask the same person who Don James is and they won't have a clue.

He was a very good coach for the Pac, but college football doesn't care about the Pac. Only one program has truly ever been relevant nationally from it.

Nick Saban knows who Don James is, you dumbfuck.

You know who doesn't? Dipshit 20 years olds.

    Go drown yourself.
I would fucking hope a guy that coached under someone would know who they are. Nick Saban is already at a level that Don James never came close to.

Don James = Terry Donahue = No one knows who the fuck they are outside of old men west of the Rockies.

Just like Oregon of the last decade, you beat on the Pac and are about to get smashed by the big boys. Unfortunately for Oregon they were at the top when you had to earn it on the field and not on a piece of paper like the late 80's and early 90's Doogs.

Jeesuz fucking Christ, @Mosster. BTP is making you look young and uninformed.

Think about that for a while. Or at least think before your next poast. . . .

Like it or not, this is more or less true. James had his moments, but he's a much bigger deal in these parts than he was to the country at large.

Any college fan who doesn't know who Don James was is not a college fan.
Bullshit. Mike Bellotti made the Hall of Fame, so there goes DJ's argument.

No college football fan under the age of 30 outside of the PNW knows who Don James is. If you don't make it past the generation you coached in you weren't a legend, period. You have to do memorable shit to be remembered. A hand full of conference titles when USC was the only opponent and a paper trophy doesn't cut it.
