Most of those have been repealed or neutered with the bipartisan support of Democrats, who claim to support American workers, but don't. Actually Obama didn't make those tax cuts permanent. Extended some of them through about 2011 such as the SS tax cut. But the taxes on the wealthy went back up to 39.6% during Obama's tenure.
And every scenario is different, but for SS, with the baby boomers, unless we get significant increase in people in the country, SS will need a tax increase our a reduction of benefits to be solvent. Would you prefer to increase taxes on those making over $118k a year? Or cut benefits to our seniors?
Reality is politicians on both sides are not willing to do either.
