Names I would add to the short list:

    Leon Rice - Boise St.
    Bryce Drew - Valpo

And ... I realize that Steve Lavin is considered by most to be a goof, but if he was willing to come back to the west coast and take the job (and people were satisfied that his health wasn't an issue), would you want him?

He's done a decent job at St. John's and he'd have some immediate west coast pull/contacts. I just thought he was an interesting name to throw out there given his west coast ties and because his personality would probably pump some life into our program pretty quickly.

    I like Michael White.

I also think that despite getting a job because of his name, Richard Pitino is more Tony Bennett than he is Pat Knight. Minnesota won the NIT last year, and they are fun to watch.

If romar can't make the 4-high offense work, nobody can. Wooden isn't some sort of miracle worker

I think it was @ThomasFremont with the initial comment, but Archie miller is really interesting to me. I don't think he stays forever, but there has to be a big pull to go against your brother and beat him. The seattle area has ridiculous talent more often than not and is more than serviceable for someone who doesn't have their head up their ass.

A young, hungry coach who has a built in family rival along with an already standing team rival for UW.

If pool boy is so lazy to hire camron dollar as the next coach I really would turn in all husky bball fandom and become a zag fan during the winter.

I seriously can't wait for the thread on DM.c that comes as soon as the romar era does officially end and they all run to their full boner mode. I have never seen a group more inflated on a coach since romar. Bone did many good things for the huskies but he certainly wasn't the difference in romar changing philosophies.

Yes, almost anyone. Anyone from your list would be ideal, but who knows if any of them would come to UW. It's not as simple as throw money at them. They may be looking for better opportunities and some of those coaches (Marshall, Smart) have turned down better opportunities in the past.

I wouldn't want Ken Bone or Cameron Dollar, but I would be pretty lenient to whoever UW hired and give them a few years. When Billy Donovan was hired by Florida, he had two seasons at Marshall under his belt. Neither resulted in a tournament bid. Coach K was 73-59 at Army before Duke. Tom Izzo was an assistant before getting the head job at Michigan State. Same for Roy Williams before getting the Kansas job.

Nobody was raving about Utah's hire from a few years ago. Krystewiak or however the fuck you spell it had decent success at Montana and was a fired NBA coach. A few years later, the hire looks great. Just give me someone other than Romar.

Nate McMillan has me curious. I'm not certain how he'd do as a recruiter but I'd guess he'd be happy to come back to the NW.

Even those morons are over that after watching Bone at WSU.

Well in that case, I'll do it.

But I'd only recruit Seattle players, cuz I ain't flying around the world to kiss some teenager's ass.

I bet I'd last 3-4 years on crisp pressers and charming personality alone.

I don't see smart as even remotely an option, but if you could hire any of the people freemont put on the list this year, you fire romar(errrrr, give him a chance to resign). Every one of those guys would keep the recruiting class intact.

Smart is a long shot. But you make the call and make him say no before crossing him off.

IF Romar was replaced, the new HC just has to keep Murray. The other local guys would come to UW anyways. Maybe the CA big guy needs some convincing too, but Murray is the prize.

I like those three. Would kill for Marshall, but doubt it would happen...

I would echo others with Michael White and Nate McMillan.

Archie Miller might be number 1 on my list, followed closely by Prohm, White, Mac10.

    McMillan's name keeps popping up.

But is there any indication he wants to coach at the college level?

I understand that it's a HC gig, which he might want. But he's been an NBA guy forever.

Most likely just wishful thinking. His name stemmed from LostLettermen on twitter saying that Romar sucks now and throwing at McMillans name as a guy no one talks about that should be considered.

I saw that and never even thought of him as an option, but I personally think it would be a great hire. Mostly just wishful thinking as I agree with you that he is an NBA guy.

I like this thread because it gives me hope (even though it won't happen), and hope is all we have for Husky Basketball.

Never been through a basketball coaching search, I wonder what that is like?
