Petersen said Miles is starting if he's good to go. Pete also said that 5 years ago, Miles would have been at practice, but times have changed in regards to head injuries. He said he should be back by Wednesday or Thursday. Unless he's trying to fool ASU, Miles will start.

(What did the Oregon film show?) “I think we played really well at times, which I think is indicative of our experience up front. The mistakes that were made were really just getting our eyes out of position for a second. You’ve got a good decision maker at quarterback like you do in a guy like Marcus Mariota, and really, really a team that is veteran in terms of operating their scheme. There was a couple of situations where our eyes are here instead of here, and that’s all it takes. So we’ve got to be much more disciplined, especially in this week because the challenge is that much greater because these guys have more variety in their run game. So while the tempo is similar to what Oregon did, and they do run zone – they also run gap schemes, so there’s more moving parts. You have to be more disciplined with our eyes, and that’s a great lesson to learn coming into this week.”
(How well have they improved on the idea of just taking care of their assignment and not do too much?) “I think they very much understand that. There’s been a couple of situations this year when we’ve tried to do more than our responsibility and it’s showed up in a negative way on film on Sunday. What we’ve got to do is understand that we’re not looking at third down as a money down. Every down is a money down. We’ve got to be disciplined and detailed on our assignment and responsibility on every single snap. When we don’t do that, when we think – hey! I’m guessing this is a pass, so I’m going to juice it on the edge a little bit…that’s where we can get exposed. We’ve got to be very detailed and very disciplined this week as well.”
Williams should be starting regardless if Miles is healthy or not.
Miles lacks confidence throwing down field. Petersen can't help him here. Either Miles wants to take make plays or doesn't. Williams on the other hand lacks a lot of skills Miles may possess, but he also isn't afraid to let it loose. Williams is going to make a lot of mistakes, but at least he won't be 1) Predictable, 2) Afraid to run, 3) Afraid to make tough passes. Williams will make defenses stay honest and have to defend the deep ball. Oregon's defense piled guys in the box, and pressed the receivers all game long, because they knew Miles wasn't going to challenge them. Williams may make some plays that will cause you to shake your head, but he also has the stones that make his ceiling much higher than Miles' IMO. Just understand there is going to be a learning curve with Williams, but expect much more exciting play.

"Did I remember to clean out the green bong before I went to...Oh Shit!"
IMO Miles isn't in a position at QB where he's good enough to start with only 1-2 days of practice, learning the game plan, etc.
This screams of "throw Miles to the wolves, watch him suck, and replace with the next guy" to me.
You want Williams to start, but this is FS. You really think Miles missing a day or two of practice is throwing him to the wolves? He knows the playbook and is sitting in on all the meetings/film study. Why wouldn't he be learning the game plan? Is Leach Petersen locking Miles in a shed instead of letting him go to meetings and watching practice?
If Petersen wanted to replace Miles, he would replace Miles. Either he's not at that point or he's keeping it quiet, but thinking missing a day or two of practice in the middle of the season is going to make a huge difference is ridiculous.

Miles looked like he was thrown to wolves on Saturday. I don't think two days less practice would make him any worse, as he's too afraid to do anything that could make him any worse. At this point, Miles could have 4 weeks to prepare and he'll still throw it to the safety valve 81% of the time instead of making a marginally difficult pass down field for a chance at a bigger gain. Miles' problems are primarily mental, and should have already been corrected by game 3. The fact that we are at this point and he's still afraid tells me that he isn't yet ready for D1 football. Give the reigns to Williams, because at least he'll have the stones to try and make a play.
It seems Petersen almost overvalues Miles ability to not cough up the ball because he is too much of a wuss to try and make a play happen. This kind of QB is ok if you have a dominant running game but Coleman/Washington couldn't be further from that. UW needs a playmaking QB even if it means a couple fucktarded mistakes throughout the game. It is better than not doing anything all game.
Look, miles is a kid and I dont want to trash a kid but if I never watched him run a husky offense ever again I wouldnt lose too much sleep. Thats awful to say cause I want him to succeed but I just... I havent seen anything from him that makes me think anything will ever get better. Maybe he can ride his little fame and parlay this into a reality show where he runs around seattle punching twelves out for being fucking stupid or maybe a celebrity boxing match or something cause he doesnt have much future in football by my estimation
I would say he could finish his sports science degree or whatever it is hes doing at school but I dont think thats a possibility either

You post was very good and it would've been excellent if you hadn't said Williams "lacks a lot of skills Miles may possess". Other than being roughly 2 inches shorter and 25 lbs lighter (Williams is still 6'2" 200 lbs) and not having any starts under his belt, Williams looks like he's more talented and a more natural QB than Miles. Heck, even his decision making is reportedly getting better so Miles' gap over Williams in not turning the ball over is likely closing.

I wouldn't mind Williams starting, but that's only because Miles has been mostly bad. I don't think he can be much worse, and the thought of the offense getting a spark is enticing. I don't give a fuck who starts at QB as long as we win.
The part that is annoying are posters saying Williams really showed something in that series. It was one fucking series, in a game that was already over. Jeff Lindquist started the game well against Hawaii and played a good half. If Miles was hurt after his first two series against Oregon, everyone would have thought it was a bummer and that he looked like an improved QB the past two weeks. Casey Paus had a great first showing against Oregon. Wait until we see Williams in extended action in a real game, not garbage time, or a Spring Game to say he's showed something.

Don't entirely disagree, but Williams looked like a competitor who wanted to play. That's the most important thing he showed, not yardage or completions.
