Sorry, you lost me here. Miles's mechanics are not pretty. And he definitely showed a lot of panic against Stanford. But it bears repeating:PurpleBaze said:...Petersen...has his hands tied with the QB situation. The rest of the team could play lights-out, but these QBs are worthless. I can't see Miles improving, unless they can coach the panic out of him. Even then, his arms strength and accuracy are less than good...
To put it another way, UW will not play another defense that good for the rest of the (regular) season. And to me, UW's defense looked the equal of Stanford's yesterday. Let that sink in.mobey said:...Stanford has the top ranked defense in college football.

In four career starts against lesser defenses, Miles has directed the offense to 69, 59, 44, and 45 points. Including the 13-point dreckfest yesterday, that's still an average of 46.0 ppg. Miles looked very poised in extended duty against solid UCLA and BYU defenses last year as well.
Even if Miles can for some reason only muster 36.0 ppg from here on out, that's still a very comfortable margin for this defense to work with.
TSINO.
As for last year, the had a running game with Sankey that needed to be respected. Without that, miles is in a whole different situation. -

So Ga state, Illinois and EWU have defenses on par ASU,AZ,CAL,UCLA, CU, oregon, osu, and WSU to the extent that the offense is going to put up 36 points a game average? Good fucking Christ. Whatever. I have all the screen shots I need. Bunch of malarkey.allpurpleallgold said:

Not to those that payed attention to how we played in those first 4 games... and some of us predicted this loss (links avail if needed).MikeDamone said:
But I think it was a surprise for those predicting a win.

You said the first four defenses were "by far" the worst defenses we'd see. I guess it depends on how you want define "by far" but, even after Saturday, I'd be surprised if we didn't average over 40 vs ASU, AZ, Cal, Colorado and Wazzu. The Pac-12 is fucking dreck.MikeDamone said:

Screen shot taken. And that's 40 by the offense, not including the 7 -14 scored by the D as the original poster included.allpurpleallgold said:

Hey the good news is we get to see what adjustments Peterman can make with an extra week.
