Story Time AKA Dear Diary
I am a person living near a large state university in the Midwest, and I never thought this would happen to me.
But recently I was informed that my next assignment will be at Fort Lewis, WA.
What neighborhoods in the South Sound area should I consider? I would like to keep my commute time low, but if possible it would be neat to live in a neighborhood with some character. Does anyone on the bored have any knowledge about cool places to live in the South Sound?
As contrived as this may sound, this is actually true.

How about here:

Shortest commute time is DuPont but no character there. Tilicum has lots of characters, very interesting characters, the kind we make fun of here mostly. Well, here or the Tug.AZDuck said:Dear Diary,

If you enjoy a left-leaning crowd, there's Olympia and girls that like to get run over by Israelis driving American-made bulldozers.
If I was a single guy at JBLM with no kids to worry about, I'd go with downtown Tacoma. -
Kent is right up your alley. They have a WinCo to boot.

East Queen Anne is always nice, and I hear there's a certain butthurt Cuog that lives there that you can talk shit with.

I'm married and have small kid... was looking at Steliacoom or maybe some hipster areas of Tacoma?

Steilacoom is a good option but find out which side of poast you'll be on or just suck it up and live with the commute.AZDuck said:I'm married and have small kid... was looking at Steliacoom or maybe some hipster areas of Tacoma?
DuPont is also a good choice if you can live with a lack of character. -
Hilltop, Spanaway, Parkland
all lovely villas with lovely scenery -
Steliacoom isn't bad. There is at least a lake, the sound, and some ferries. (the boats). Decent, friendly neighborhood watering hole there too down by the ferries. Dupont sucks and is one of those newer towns where all the houses look the same, are fairly nice, but cheaply made. It really sucks there. Tacoma has some nice areas. Look into the North End or in the area by the Narrows Bridge.AZDuck said:I'm married and have small kid... was looking at Steliacoom or maybe some hipster areas of Tacoma?
With a kid, my guess is the wife will choose Steliacoom or University Place. I'm sorry you got stuck at Fort Lewis. I used to go out there for work and the soldiers I talked to seemed to hate it. -
Plus Curtis doesn't suck epic ballz.RoadDawg55 said:
