Meh. I've spent plenty of time, mental energy and money on the Huskies in the past 2 years let alone my life. I'm not going to stare at the TV in anger when the weather is actually nice in the winter for the Sun Bowl.
@doogville We literally let him escape his buyout so that Jedd can still pretend he and Bill are best buds.
I'm still having a hard time wrapping my mind around this. Someone on here said something to the effect of, "Fisch didn't want to upset the Belichick tree, which is probably smart," like they're some kind of mafia. GTFOOH with that weak-ass silly shit.
You miss the point completely. Nobody's bragging about not watching a Huskie game. Some of us have spent our entire lives paying WAY too much attention to this shit only to see it completely ruined. It's been a forced walk on the beach for perspective. I could tell my wife that I'm not going to watch the Huskies play in a shit bowl game—something that would have been unthinkable only a few years ago—because their shit tier team is largely a system of college football as a whole going in the shitter, and she'd say, "That's great" without even looking up.
OR
I can say basically that to other past/present Husky fans on a forum where I think a similar sentiment is becoming more and more popular. This is THE place for talking all things Husky football. If this isn't the place to say, "This sucks and I don't want to watch it anymore," what is? You might disagree with that sentiment, and that's fine, but expressing disappointment in the current product is a valid position that you're dismissing.
I could say I think it's cringe and cucky that you keep loving your team and coming back to watch it get fucked no matter how many times it tells you it's just not that into you. It would be a similar oversimplification of your position, but I could say that.
Nah, @Canadawg nailed his point re: @whlinder. I've gone down this path before, I know where Canada is coming from, and it's not a pretty sight or responsibility. It's not fun. It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it. All respect to @Canadawg calling it out. @whlinder fucked this one up.
So you only support the team when they are in the national championship game now? Don't get me wrong if UW truly does shows apathy to success and lack of commitment to the fans for a measurable amount of time I can understand where you're coming from but let's not twist where things are at.
This year sucked and I want Fisch fired just like all the olds fired DJ in the 80s but we're still 11th in win percentage of Power teams since 2016.
Coaching hires has been one Sark that had enough sizzle to dig the program out of the pea patch and left some ingredients in the cupboard. Then one of the best hires of the decade in CFB in CP who took the team to the playoff, the real one. Then despite the connotation of indifference UW saw Jimmy tanking and pulled the plug after 16 games, that's a big dawg move. Went out and hired Deboer who promptly suplexed the Pac12 and got 3 of the best wins the program has had in decades. Amongst that the president of the school showed her cuban colours and once again big dawged the Zombie Pac and got a place at the table in the B1G. Even Fisch was well accepted at the time of hiring.
All that to say that I love being pissed about bad games and coaches but to say that you're trying to hold yourself to some kind of standard is just bs because to me you sound like a soft ass fan. W/ respect
I've been a fan through FAR worse games and coaches. You're again missing the point. The problem isn't that the team isn't in the CFP again, the problem is that one of the players who was skipped town for the biggest rival a week later. And several more chased bags as well. And I know the names of like three players on the team and aren't motivated to learn the rest because they'll either suck and be run or be good and go chase a bag elsewhere. Unlimited transfers has ruined the game, period. If the players have zero loyalty to the school/program/team, what kind of loser am I to show loyalty to them? What kind of loser are you? W /respect. Being a "hard ass fan" is a weird thing to brag about.
I don't know what @whlinder's motivations are for saying he's not watching the game, but I've claimed the same this season several times, and my motivation has always been to encourage others to join the protest. They've ruined the sport, and we're just too dumb to stop watching it. If they're not punished, what's their motivation to fix it? On the bright side, having my Saturdays back has been pretty nice.
NGAF. Enjoy your Saturdays, brother. I get that. I always have the pull to do something else. NGAF. I typically keep my college football viewing to one Husky game a week. NGAF. Seahawks are much easier to skip. NGAF.
You didn't print a roster. NGAF. I did, and I learned the players and numbers just like I do every year. NGAF. IDGAF that you did not choose to learn the players. That's your prerogative. NGAF. I even had players that I particularly rooted for, Dawgs, just like I do every year. There were many. NGAF.
NGAF about not watching Husky football in a Husky football thread. You don't need to explain yourself. There's much better forums to talk about not watching Husky football. Go ride Galbraith and hit r/MTB, ffs.
w/ respect though. That's legitimate. I know you're good for it.
If the point is poasting about not watching it in a gay way, then ok, message acknowledged. I mean, it is a message bored. Derek mentioned the lack of engagement. I tried to provide perspective on why. Other options. It was apparently not a cool story bro. Maybe I should have gone to see Hamilton instead.
If the point is I should be a better fan and watch the bowl game over other activities (aka "care more"), ok, but don't think you want to go down that path with me of measuring fandom. I try not to do that to our fans; as long as you're not a retarded Doog who is harming the program then I support whatever level of fandom each individual chooses to provide.
I will point out that I literally wrote out this issue within the past 3 weeks when House entered the portal. My nonchalance about the Sun Bowl is a manifestation of that issue.
I think there is an overestimation on how much we will root for laundry if the teen boi models wearing the laundry change drastically every single year and just get auctioned on an annual basis.
The laundry means something to us, deeper than a fan connection to NFL laundry, cause huge chunks of the fan base also committed to the same "institution" as well as voluntarily funding its success.
There are other sports and entertainment options out there to care about.
I’ve thrown almost all of it away. Mariners and MLB are a joke, NBA since Sonics left, F’ the 12’s.
Im disappointed and think the portal needs tighter strings, but I’m cool with NIL, we have Seattle big market money infusing the program, but would obviously like to see more, a lot more…
My Huskies are the last team I am rooting for and probably always will, Dawg til death.
Comments
Yeah, an interim coach, letting Bruener call the defense, anything. Lots of better options for the bowl game but we grabbed ankle for Bill.
BONEM
Data gonna data
However, nothing is more fun than watching Duck fans eat shit on National TV.
Be that as it may, I did enjoy riding my new red sled.
Sugar Bowl>>>sugary cereal Bowel

Fuck the Belichicks.
That's fine but did you take some sort of bizarre pride in telling people you weren't watching?
That’s quite an inference.
Just an explanation to Derek who made an observation.

This will be unveiled to the world in the Seattle Times' "Defeat and Ruins" series coming out soon

That would fit onto a beer goblet
You've got not caring on vinyl.
