UW's 2024 defense will be hard pressed to be as good as this year's UW defense. They aren't sniffing 2021-22 UGA.
The biggest advantage this program has is it's ability to develop QB's. When you can do that you find a Baker Mayfield or Kyler Murray, you don't settle for Stetson Bennett.
I’d be concerned if next years D didn’t progress because next years O will definitely digress.

You're losing the edges, possibly Muhammad, probably Ulo and still need someone to step up at safety. It's probably taking a small step back.

Confidence is relative but I feel Banks, Tuitele, Tunuufi, Tuputala, Bruener, Heims, Bryant, Parker, Durfee have juice. Probably forgetting a couple

From what I’ve seen, the guys in the secondary are getting better quickly. Other than Tuli, the rest of the DL returns. Trice and ZTF will be tough to replace. LB will be just as good, if not better with another year. Bruener and Tuputala will probably start.
We will also add a couple transfers. I don’t think we will have a sharp drop off on defense next year. From what the coaches have said, Durfee is a stud and it’s too bad he got fucked by the NCAA.
Now let’s get back to winning the Natty this year.
D Mo will likely be our starting QB at the beginning of next season … does that sustain itself through the season …?… only time will tell.
This is not loser talk etc., it is simply the most likely path to success. Do we win ten games with D Mo as starting QB ? Probably not … but I doubt we would win 7 or more with 18 year old Mack or the portal from SDSU. If Morris isn’t thriving by game three he is on the bench and we then pivot and take our lumps with the younger guy(sm).

There is no way on earth that Deboer doesn't pull out all the stops to portal in a talented, experienced QB. Morris is an answer but he's not the right one unless standards are lowered. We all know that.
Yes but it will be between Morris who has had 2 years to learn the DeBoer/Grubb offense and transfer that might have a higher ceiling but might not pick up the offense that quickly. Penix has said a few times that one of the reasons he is doing so well this year is that he has had 4 years to play in and learn the DeBoer/Grubb offense. So they might bring in a portal guy but he might not beat out Morris at the end of summer camp.
