My expectation is 10-2 regular season. Anything better is great, anything worse I'm disappointed.
If the defense shows real improvement early in the season I might recalibrate but right now I expect them to cost us one we will be real frustrated by. Penix is amazing but no QB is putting up 40 points every game. The defense doesn't have to be great but it does have to step up.

10-2 and getting to the conference championship game is the expectation I'm letting myself live with. In my head lose one of the tough games (at USC, at Oregon State, Utah I don't think they're great but they're solid and it's tough timing) and an off game you probably shouldn't (Arizona, Michigan State, ASU for some fucking reason).
I'm not even putting into the universe losing to Oregon. Won in their place last year and return more this year. Losing will also kill a lot of early momentum in the season.
If you're ok with 10-2 you are saying we lose a game as a favorite. That's not good enough this year. I can cut DeBoer slack when he doesn't have this experienced talent starting but this year the only game they would be dogs in is the USC game and that's the only one I won't be dumbfounded by in a loss.

Oregon and USC are tossup games. Losing one is likely. Losing both would be a huge disappointment.
Losing any other conference game in top of both would be really bad and signal a lack of improvement.

Things that need to happen:
- Offense finds out that you can call intermediate and timing passing plays
- OL gets better at short yard because they were fucking terrible
- Penix doesnt get broken and improves his deep ball accuracy
- DBs figure atleast some of their shit out
- DL doesn't fall off
If the DL gets worse, the secondary play stays about the same, and Penix stays relatively one dimensional UW will struggle to reach 10-3He's already doing this. Everybody says so.15-0 still on the table
With broken Penix - he needs moar Tim.
