250k for un unproven QB, how much would Huard have been worth during the height of TBS season? Half of these clowns would of wanted the franchise tag on his ass, and he sucks(as of now, things change). QB is not something I'm freaking out about, DeBoner can crank good QB's out. Stay in the P12, have a better coach then most, develop talent, get in playoffs and be the sexy underdoog to knock off the big guys ala Peterman back in the day
So let’s be Boise State?
It’s sad to see how far Washington has fallen. We had a long history of paying players under the table, high paid coaching staffs, bending the rules, and taking our mercenaries to other college towns and kicking ass.
Now we can’t fill our stadium and when it is legal to run a program the way that we know can win we want to be Boise State.
Losing a recruit to a top 3 team isn't exactly a canary in the mine
It's like they cant recognize the fucking portal is the reason we are 10-2, and almost went 11-1 with a fucking playoff appearance.
With a first year coach.
It’s like you can’t recognize we got lucky a super talented kid wasn’t in high demand because of injuries and also happened to have a connection and comfort level with our head coach. A huge NIL bag didn’t get him here.
It’s a great story. It’s also not one we can just expect to continually repeat. We need to significantly increase revenue.

Yes staying in the Pac gives us? a better chance of getting clown stomped in a 12 game playoff.
I'd rather have a chance of actually winning the playoff.
We?ll never compete with the big boys on the field if we can't compete with them financially, especially not in the NIL/transfer portal college free agency world we now live in.
Your chances of winning a Natty would still be near Zero. Whether you are in the PAC 12, Big12 or Big 10.

How many times do you think that is a repeatable path for UW?

With this offense?
I think UW can and should get high caliber transfer players.
Like you said, Penix wasnt high caliber and even a lot of us were lukewarm on it.
But DeBoer is an offensive savant and everything he touches turns to gold. I think with good NIL the sky is the limit for high caliber transfers.

11-2. Top 10 season. Alamo Bowl champs!
We couldve won the natty this year!
🙄
That wasnt a whoosh
You thought it was about UW
i forget about 2018 cuog, you right
they got fucked over that year to a crazy extent. shouldve been an ny6 team

Why not? Are UW boosters going to stop caring?
NIL is trending up big time
UW boosters aren’t going to be enough to outspend other programs far greater revenues AND their boosters. Booster money can only go so far. Other programs are gonna be able to lay coaches strictly from AD funds and let boosters acquire talent. Pac programs are going to need boosters to pay coaches and acquire talent. It’s going to be a huge disadvantage.
This seems so obvious and simple to me. West coast football is losing relevance rapidly. Two of the four remaining programs with the resources and name recognition to buck that trend are already migrating east.
Talent acquisition is getting harder. Only a few years ago UW was able to hold off blue bloods for commits. Go back and look. tOSU, Bama et al were not making late steals off of commit lists in 2018-19 even though they pursued some. With NIL and the spector of conference reconstruction they can treat UWs commit list like a shopping cart.
UW has to become one of them, or accept being a scrappy midget from the left coast who grabs the odd 12 seed in the playoffs. I hate both scenarios, but one is worse than the other.
Deboer had one chance to snag a talented QB who he already knew, had coached, and who already knew his offense. There isn't another one out there like that aside from Haener. He hasn't proved he can recruit new guys out of the portal even though it seems like it should be easy.
